POSTS STORIES REELS

After two years of festivals, screenings, and streaming on Amazon, I’m excited to announce that Peninsula Nights is now streaming on YouTube for the very first time.

This film is especially personal because it was truly built from the ground up. I wrote and directed the film, while also serving as cinematographer and editor alongside Stephen Rayger. Together with Christine VonRobarie, the three of us formed the core team that brought this feature to life. Along the way, additional actors, musicians, friends, and members of the local community generously contributed their time and talent, helping make the film what it ultimately became.

Set across Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey, and the surrounding area, Peninsula Nights was created with a simple belief: that meaningful stories can be told without massive budgets or large crews.

If you’d like to support the film financially, Peninsula Nights remains available to rent or purchase on Amazon Prime. But the biggest thing you can do is watch the movie, leave a comment, and share it with someone you think might enjoy it.

Independent films only grow when audiences champion them.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this film possible and to everyone who continues to support independent cinema. I hope you enjoy Peninsula Nights.

Titanic Almost Had the WORST Hollywood Ending Ever 💀🚢 #titanic #movie #art #film #cinema by @devinthomasfilm

We made a movie.

No studio. No massive budget. No Hollywood machine behind it.

Just an independent film shot throughout Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey, California, by filmmaker @devinthomasfilm.

If you’re from the Monterey Peninsula, you’ll probably recognize a few places.

WATCH THE FULL MOVIE FREE ON YOUTUBE.

Also available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video.

FUN FACT: The entire movie was made with a one-man crew. Devin Thomas wrote, directed, and shot the film himself from start to finish.

No one’s coming to choose you.
No one’s handing you the moment.

No permission.
No validation.

Just you deciding—
“I’m doing this.”

Everything changes after that.

At some point you stop waiting to be called a filmmaker…
and you just become one.

No permission. No gatekeepers. Just work.

This is exactly what I break down in The Filmmaker Mindset.

Knowing what we know now about space travel…
did the Moon landing really happen the way we were told?

With people like Elon Musk and SpaceX only now figuring out how to launch, land, and relaunch rockets —

it’s wild to think we went to the Moon in 1969… landed… and came back.

Was it Cold War pressure?

Or did we really make that giant leap?

What do you think? 🌕

“Ready” isn’t a feeling — it’s a decision.

You don’t wait for it. You choose it.

Start creating. Fail. Learn. Keep going.

The only way out is through.

It won’t be perfect at first — but it’s the first step toward getting there.

Begin.

Comedy used to be funny because it went there.

It said the things people wouldn’t normally say out loud — and somehow made it feel okay to laugh at the thoughts we all quietly have.

It wasn’t about attacking anyone… it was about shared absurdity.

There was an unapologetic sincerity to its irreverence.
Lately it feels safer, more careful.

But maybe we’re on the verge of a renaissance — where film comedy takes risks again and finds that fearless edge.

That spark is something Hollywood’s missing.

Is YouTube the Netflix killer?

In 2026, it offers everything Netflix does — and more — for free.

But here’s the difference: YouTube is where independent artists actually get discovered.

While Netflix takes the cream of the crop, YouTube gives creators a real shot to grow from scratch — no gatekeepers, no massive budget required.

It’s home to vlogs, podcasts, indie films, and full-on careers built from the ground up.

This is how I like it — real people, real stories, real access.
The future isn’t prestige… it’s presence.

Netflix relies heavily on metadata and metrics to guide how shows are written — it’s like Moneyball for movies.

Stats over soul.

But film isn’t math.

Great storytelling isn’t built on algorithms — it’s built on feeling.

Movies are meant to entertain, yes… but more than anything, they’re meant to move people.

And no amount of data can replace that.

Take the risk...

Last year I made my first movie and my life changed.
