One of the most common questions people have when they start following Jesus is:

👉 “How do I know if God’s speaking to me?”

The good news is : He is speaking.
We just have to learn how to recognise His voice.

Here are three of the main ways He speaks:

📖 Through His Word — The Bible is God’s voice in written form. Sometimes you’ll read a verse that feels like it was written just for you. That’s Him speaking.

💭 Through His Whisper : God often speaks in quiet ways - a nudge in your heart, a sense of peace, or a gentle conviction. He won’t yell over the noise of life, so we need to make space to listen.

🧍‍♂️ Through His People : God uses friends, leaders, sermons, or even strangers to confirm what He’s already been whispering to your heart.

Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice.” (John 10:27)
That means you don’t have to be “super spiritual” to hear God - you just have to belong to Him.

Try this today:
Find a quiet moment, take a deep breath, and pray,
“God, I’m listening. What do You want to say to me?”
Then wait. Sit in silence. See what comes to your heart.

You might be surprised | He’s been speaking all along.

If you’re new to faith, prayer can feel a bit weird at first.
Like your talking to space or something 🤣 You might wonder, What do I even say? or Does God really hear me?

The answer is: Yes.
Prayer isn’t a religious performance BUT rather it’s a real conversation with a real God who loves you and actually wants to hear from you. ❤️

You don’t need to sound holy or deep - you just need to be honest.

Some of the most powerful prayers in the Bible are simple:
“Lord, help me.”
“Thank You.”
“Forgive me.”

If you need a structure to help you get started, try this:

The P.R.A.Y. Method 👇

P – Praise: Start by thanking God. Tell Him what you love about Him.
Example: “God, You’ve been so faithful. Thank You for today.”

R – Repent: Be honest about where you’ve messed up or fallen short.
Example: “God, I’m sorry for losing my patience today.” Or even when you fall into temptation.

A – Ask: Bring your needs and worries to Him.
Example: “God, please help me with my family and school.”

Y – Yield: Surrender your plans and let Him lead.
Example: “God, I give You control. Let Your will be done in my life.”

It also connects perfectly with what Jesus taught in The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father (connection),
Your Kingdom come (surrender),
Give us today (dependence),
Forgive us (repentance),
Deliver us (strength).

The point isn’t to pray the perfect prayer: it’s to connect with a perfect God.

Try this today:
Find a quiet moment, take a breath, and go through the P.R.A.Y. steps. Even if it’s just 2 minutes, talk to God like He’s sitting right beside you - because He is.

If you’re new to faith or just haven’t picked up a bible, reading the Bible can feel a bit like woah, where do I even start?

But the truth is, the Bible isn’t just a rulebook or history lesson —— it’s a love letter. It’s how God reveals His heart, His promises, and His plan for your life. ❤️

Here’s a simple way to start:
📖 Pick a passage — maybe Psalm 23 or Mark 1 (See our story highlights)

🖊 Use the S.O.A.P. method:

S — Scripture: Read one small section and write it out.
O — Observation: What do you notice? What stands out?
A — Application: How could you live this out today?
P — Prayer: Talk to God about it — even if it’s just a few sentences.

It’s not about how much you read. It’s about meeting with God through WHAT you read.

The more time you spend in His Word, the clearer His voice becomes in your life.

💬Challenge: Take 10 minutes today, find a quiet spot, open your Bible, and ask, “God, what do You want to show me today?”

He’ll meet you there. 🕊

Welcome to The Fast

Make sure to download the “Equippers App” as all the info is on there!! Including the 21 day devotional 🙌

There’s something powerful about fasting together. Across our church, people are setting their hearts to seek God - not just individually, but as one body. As we fast, we’re uniting around a simple desire: to draw closer to God and to make room for what He wants to do in us and through us.

Our theme this year is PRAY BOLD.

“Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness...” Hebrews 4:16

We’re not entering this fast timidly; we’re stepping in boldly. Let’s go for breakthrough. Let’s believe for the miraculous. Declare the Word of God over your life, your family, and our church. In any area of your life that has been stuck for a while - stand in faith - He hears, He moves, and He rewards those who seek Him.

We’re believing that as we fast and pray together, God will move - in our hearts, our homes, and across Equippers Church. Let’s come boldly to His throne of grace, with confidence that He hears, He moves, and He’s already at work.

There are daily devotions and prayer points available on the Equippers App. Let’s do this together! by @devoeast

‼️‼️What is Fasting?
Fasting is the voluntary act of giving something up for a spiritual purpose. It’s not about earning God’s favour, but about making room for Him.

When we fast, we quiet the noise of our desires and distractions so we can realign our hearts, hear His voice, and grow in dependence on Him.

‼️‼️Decide How You Will Fast
Choose a fast that’s sustainable for you, requires discomfort and sacrifice, and is meaningful before God.

Full Fast – Just water.
Liquid Fast – Give up solid foods.
Daniel Fast – Fruits, vegetables and whole foods.
Partial Fast – e.g. Skip breakfast and lunch, eat dinner. (one meal a day)

Create Your Own Fast – You may choose to fast social media, caffeine, entertainment, or anything that competes for your attention.

The focus isn’t on what you give up but on Who you turn to!!!

‼️‼️Plan How You Will Spend the Extra Time

When you fast, distractions often come quickly. Decide ahead of time what you’ll do with the time or space fasting creates, otherwise the time will get swallowed up. Here are some intentional ways you can spend the time:

📖Read the Bible and the daily devotion.
🤲Spend extra time in prayer or worship.
✍️Journal what God is speaking. Write down what God shows you during the fast - scriptures, thoughts, dreams, moments of conviction or revelation. You’ll often look back and realise how much He was working beneath the surface.
🥾Go for walks and listen for His voice.
🕊️Replace scrolling or snacking with stillness.

‼️‼️Pray Some Bold Prayers

Let’s go for breakthrough. Let’s believe for the miraculous. Declare the Word of God over your life, your family, and our church. In any area of your life that has been stuck for a while - stand in faith - He hears, He moves, and He rewards those who seek Him.

‼️‼️If You Stumble, Jump Back In

This isn’t a competition or a test of strength. The goal isn’t perfection - it’s humility and hunger. If you lose focus or eat something you intended not to, just start again. Pick up where you left off, don’t give up. The goal is to humble ourselves before God and to find Him.

Keep your focus on Him - not on what you’re giving up or how hard it feels.
