POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

🔻ANY OTHER WAY🔻 honors the legacy of black transfemme soul singer Jackie Shane. She was a pioneer and transcestor from Nashville, TN who fled to Toronto in the late 1950s after witnessing intense violence against the black community in the south. She presented femme and butch but never confirmed her trans identity publicly until later in life, after leaving the music world to retire in TN. Her live shows in Toronto were where she could shine, not knowing she was changing the world just by showing up as her true authentic self.

On Thursday we will time travel to a moment when queers were organizing their own revolution in third spaces, secret cafes, and word of mouth gatherings. @djbrownangel , infinite Jess, and @flavia_elisa_mora are your music selectors. At 12am your Midnight Queens will bring those tracks to life- legendary performers @per_sia @20volume curated by resident queen @yome.alone.

This party is for the fam that supports the dolls, the mixed race homies, the kids raised in the Mission, the queers growing up in community. It’s for me to keep going, to inspire others to survive in a moment we need it most. It’s for my Nanamma and Thaatha who were freedom fighters in India fighting colonization and falling in love during a revolution.

Special shout out to my collaboraters flavi, @reallyrealshit , @paul_costuros and the @theknockoutsf. Please join us, cry on the dance floor, take epic photos in the Knockout Photo Booth and Polaroid portraits. Thursday March 12th, 9pm - 2am, $5-$10 gay dollars but no one turned away for lack of funds. 👽🙏🏽👽 taken in The Knockout by @devoncito

THIS SATURDAY is our Grand Finale and we could not be more honored and excited to welcome BEZIER as our final guest . Bezier is a day one’r. As a former member of Honey Soundsystem he served as an inspiration to many on the crew and has played for us many times during our 16 years. We’re all in love with Bezier and to share our final dance with them is all our final party dreams could ask for 🖤
A few tickets left online with a limited supply at the door . Come give a squeeze , have one final dance and help us close her out in alllll the 🪄 magic

As we wind down our OTT final season 3 part retirement extravaganza, we beg you not to get too overtly hangry if we decide to throw one more Winter Ball into the circus ring.

We probably won’t so come you, please, to join us and our dear friend Bezier for our final of softest twirls.

It’s been a wild ride and an utter joy to have called the best queer bar of all time home for the past 16 years. We will miss El Rio, but you won’t because there are trillions of reasons every day to stop in buy a drink. Nevertheless, let’s give that glorious slice of concrete something to cry about. See you September 12th

My first SF curation goes to SOFT DOMME & @jasmine_infiniti 12.26 | 9-Close

Music keeps me grounded, connected, and DJing is the expression that combats depression. When we show up with care and respect for community, we create the kind of spaces that uplift artists and strengthen how we see ourselves by uplifting others.
