Mornings where everything feels still for a second by @devoncooper.co

There’s moments in life where you look back and reflect on if that actually happened. If you have ever had the chance to experience swimming with manta rays you will know what I am talking about. The first moment I got in the water with these beautiful animals I was honestly lost for words. It came up out of nowhere and the pure size of it blew me away and it swam so close. Grateful to be able to capture this moment in time.

P.s if you think this would be a good print drop it in the comments 😉 by @devoncooper.co

Most of what a wave does happens too fast for us to see any of it, this is one of those moments. The ocean is such a special place. by @devoncooper.co

Hands down still one of the best photographs I have captured of a whale. I still remember this day like it was yesterday. Floating around the ocean with @adrianbullockphotography waiting for the right moment to capture the right frame. At the time trying to capture this with manual focus on the @hasselblad definitely had its challenges. But ended up coming away with two pretty special shots 🙌🏼 by @devoncooper.co

Some sunsets just stay with you and this was one of those magical afternoons that just kept getting better and better. That’s what I love so much about swimming around in the ocean you never quite know what you’re going to get but if you’re patient and you observe what’s happening around you, you can find some pretty incredible moment.

Plus the colours this evening was off the charts and I was that excited haha. Still frothing on these frames years later.

Also if you wanted to check out any of my prints for your house let me know 🙌🏼☺️

I realised I had been collecting stamps for quite a few years now. It wasn’t until I saw a post like this and wanted to see what it would look like. I haven’t edit many photos lately so I decided to give it a crack and have a play around. Ended up working it out and putting together a collection of stamps from some moments over the years in the ocean.

Would love to hear your thoughts ☺️🙌🏼

Also quick one should I turn any of these into prints?

And can we just touch on how epic this soundtrack is 🤌🏼 by @devoncooper.co

The story behind capturing this image is quite a funny one actually. Firstly there was a Great White in the water hunting while I was swimming around trying to capture this image. Firstly that’s actually wild, but the fact I was so locked on to this turtle meant I actually got the shot. There actually no way I would have been open to swimming around with that knowing it was there. But that’s the beauty of the ocean and the eco system is it’s their home and I am a visitor. I didn’t get the chance to see it but the people who took the photo of it did. I think one day I would love to swim with a great white but for now here is that image I capture of this turtle on this magical day.

Also quickly if you would love this image comment “PRINT” and I’ll point you in the right direction. Anyway appreciate you 🙌🏼

Some photos deserve to make it off the hard drive and be printed. This was one of those, what do you think?

Comment “PRINT” if you want to see more ☺️🙌🏼

If you need an excuse to travel around in a van in the North Island of New Zealand, this is it. There’s no lock in with a van, no being somewhere by tomorrow, you just go, and you end up talking to locals and finding spots you were never going to find on a schedule. That’s the beauty of travel, that’s why I do it, so getting in a van and doing the North Island was always going to be a yes.

Field Notes from travelling around the North Island of New Zealand.

I think the best decision I made was not making too many plans.

For 10 days I travelled around in a campervan, and most mornings I had no idea where I’d end up that night. If somewhere looked nice, I’d stop. If a local recommended a place, I’d go check it out.

Some days I only drove 20 minutes before finding somewhere I wanted to stay.

Waipu Cove was definitely one of my favourite spots, but honestly what I’ll remember most is how friendly everyone was. Some of the best places I visited came from conversations, not Google.

I came home with thousands of photos, a few rolls of film to develop, and a reminder that sometimes the best trips are the ones without much of a plan.

Sunrise over at Waipu

I was the only one swimming in the water it was definitely fresh.

First sunrise on the road trip in Leigh

Going for my first proper run in 14 years and what a place to do it.

Sunrises are so special on the North Island

This sunset was incredible.

The location I parked the van up was magic.

Doesn’t get much better haha. by @devoncooper.co

When a winter sunset makes for the perfect image to print. Very stoked with how this test print came out. Think I will be releasing this at some point. If thats something you would love to get around comment “PRINT” so you don’t miss it ☺️
