First workshop for @modebyflickr done. 5 to go.

Kicked off Mode Photography Festival in Minneapolis with a fast-paced shoot focused on editorial, fashion, style and wedding photography.

@devonericksen and @mikaelmekyel were absolutely brilliant. Great energy, completely up for it, and somehow we managed to pull together a stack of strong images in a very short time.

No endless posing. No overthinking. Just good people, good light, a clear idea and getting stuck in.

The delegates brought the energy and, judging by the laughs and the images they walked away with, they had a pretty good time too.

Here’s a little behind the scenes, with some of the results thrown in.

@mnstatefair FOOD experience with a child with food allergies. His allergies include wheat, eggs alone, all nuts, and sesame, which meant I needed to have a plan on where to go for him. We felt seen and taken care of at @auntiemglutenfree booth! He could have your typical state fair food like everyone else but without the typical ingredients! We got their cheese curds, mini donuts and corn dog. All tasted so delicious and just like the real thing!

If you have allergies or are gluten free I’d definitely check this stand out!
The app @mnonastick was very helpful finding that this stand existed along with helping us plan places to go with kids!

First time to the @mnstatefair with kids part 1!! Hands down the North entrance/area of the fair has the most interactive experiences.

PBS kids area, tractor & diggers, and Kemps Little Hands are a few more kid friendly places that aren’t pictured.

Next time I feel like we may just stay in this area. We did enjoy seeing all the animals though near the south end. With young kids itd nice to have options and kniw what areas are a for sure hit! Hope this helps if you’re venturing to the fair with littles!

Incorporating color into your family session outfits is less about how much and more about how intentionally. I always recommend choosing tones that feel like the season you’re in, complement the location your session will be at, and enhance your natural complexion! A great tip is to lay out your family’s outfits prior to your session and ensure they coordinate well.

I’m loving the four foundational colors in this lovely family session at Lyndale Rose Garden; shades of soft coral and muted blues grounded by ivory and beige. Neutrals (particularly lighter neutrals) help to brighten an overall image, balance pops of color, and help tie everything together.

I absolutely love providing wardrobe help to my couples if requested, so you are never alone in deciding what to wear for your session. All clients also have access to my client wardrobe if shopping or finding something in your closet just sounds too difficult (can relate)! taken in Lyndale Rose Garden by @devonericksen
