The #queen has entered the chat! 🔥🔥

The theme was underground rave meets haute couture.

I heard: futuristic royalty with CEO energy. Bring the color, command the room, and leave a little drama trailing behind you. 💗

Thank you @keionacook & @qebella_couture for this wearable art 📸 and @walkerartcenter for another unforgettable evening.

🔥 STOP SCROLLING. THIS IS THE PART OF THE STYLIST'S STORY NOBODY POSTS. 🔥

She started in her BEDROOM. 🛏️ Then came the clients who weren't a good fit, the tough decision to let go, and the dream that wouldn't stop calling her name. 😳

Jasmine Rhoden, founder and CEO of @glamluxehairco got REAL with me.

This is just 2 minutes of it, and the other 30+ are only on YouTube. 👀

Everybody is going to be talking about this one, so don't be the last to watch.

A founder’s weekend. 💜

This weekend reminded me that life can be full in more ways than one.

I got to pour into community at the Minnesota Black Author's Expo, something I founded because I believe deeply in creating spaces where we can be seen, celebrated, and connected.

I slowed down for movie night with dear friends. ❤️

And on Sunday, the Vikings game. SKOL! 💜🏈

Entrepreneurship can make you feel like every moment has to be productive. Every weekend has to be about the business. Every hour has to move something forward.

But I’m learning that building a life I love is just as important as building a business I love.

Community. Friendship. Football. Joy.

That was my weekend.

When I got the call that @naturessyrup was named Top 3 by the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder for Best Black Business, I had literally just turned on the lights in the store.

And that moment hit different. 🥹

To be acknowledged through national awards is an incredible honor. But to be acknowledged by your own community? That’s a FLEX.

The Bible says, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own hometown.” So when home sees you, celebrates you, and says, “We see what you’re building”… you don’t take that lightly.

Nature’s Syrup was built right here. Through the long days. The pivots. The prayers. The risks. The faith. And the people in this community who have supported us along the way.

To be named among the Top 3 means more than another accolade.

This one is HOME. ❤️

Thank you, Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder, and thank you to our community for seeing us.

As a founder, sometimes you do crazy things just to prove a point. 😂

I cut off my locs.

Not because I didn’t love them, but because I wanted to show our newest customers what’s possible when you learn your hair, stay consistent, and use the right products.

I started over so you could watch the journey in real time.

And YES, my hair grows. 🌱
YES, I retain my length.
And YES, I keep it hydrated with plant-based products from Nature’s Syrup Beauty.

Healthy hair isn’t just about how fast it grows. It’s about keeping it hydrated, reducing breakage, caring for your scalp, and retaining the growth you already have.

I’m not just the founder. I use these products. I know these products. And sometimes…I’ll even cut my hair off to prove a point. 😂

Welcome to my growth journey. 🌱

God, I pray over every business owner who is trying to build something with what You placed in their hands.

Bless the work of our hands.
Send the right customers, resources, opportunities, and people.
Give us wisdom when the numbers don’t make sense, strength when business is slow, and courage when the next step feels uncertain.

Protect our businesses. Protect our peace. Protect our purpose.

May there be enough, not only to sustain us, but enough to employ others, serve our communities, provide for our families, and be a blessing.

And when we get tired, remind us why we started.

May the doors meant for us open, and may we have the wisdom to walk away from the ones that are not.

Let our businesses prosper with purpose.

In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏🏾

If you own a business, I’m praying this over yours today. by @devonna_bentleypittman

"We're going to get your hair fixed."🎙️✂️

Growing up, so many of us heard it on the way to the salon. But here's the truth: our hair was never broken. It was never the problem. 💜

In Episode 1 of Unraveled: Stories from the Chair, I sat down with Briana McCall Cress of Gorgeous Looks Salon to talk about the words we were handed as little girls, how they shaped the way we saw ourselves, and what it takes to unlearn them.

Our hair was never a problem to fix. It was a story to honor. 👑

I asked Briana one question:

“If your hair wrote a book, what would it say?”

And then came that sigh… 😮‍💨

I’m not giving you her answer here.

Because some answers deserve the whole story.

🎙️ UNRAVELED — Episode 1: Briana Cress: The Chop That Started It All

Her answer says A LOT about the relationship we have with our hair—and you’ll have to watch the full conversation to hear it.

👀 Episode 1 is live on YouTube now. Go hear what Briana said.

And if that question stopped you for a second too…

What would YOUR hair say if it could tell the whole truth?

Unraveled: Stories from the Chair is a conversation series hosted by me, De'Vonna Pittman.

It asks several questions: What's your hair story? Who are you with hair, and who are you without it?

These conversations begin with our hair care stylists, because they are the people who create the platform for us to fully embrace and ignite our beauty.

But what is really underneath that beauty when you unravel it all?

Every story speaks life to the little girl who was told her hair wasn't enough. 💛

Get ready for some raw & fascinating conversations!

....The truth behind the texture, and how it defines who you are inside and out!
