A year ago I wandered through Japan with my father, and it changed my perspective of the world. Japan is one of only three nations never bent by Western rule, and its independence lives in every quiet street.

Subway stations gleam without a whisper of litter. I could drift down an alley at 3 a.m., guided only by vending‑machine glow, and feel safer than at noon. Discipline is woven into daily rituals: ramen masters turn their ladles in quiet devotion, as if tending small ceremonies, and even grocery‑store toilet paper is imprinted withcarries blushing anime characters.

Though the society is nearly woven from one cloth, strangers greet foreigners with a gentle curiosity that feels like spring rain. They want you to taste their wonder. Anthony Bourdain said Tokyo felt like his first acid trip, shattering old sight and revealing a new world. I know what he meant.

It was truly an honor to attend the world premiere of “The Dreamers and I”, a documentary directed by Kenji Yamamoto that chronicles the life of entrepreneurs living in hacker houses in Silicon Valley. Kenji filmed me and many others throughout the past 10 years to capture the spirit of hacker houses and startup life.

Seeing the 22 year-old version of myself on a big screen was surreal. My friends Carlos and Habibe, featured in the film, have made an impact on inspiring other entrepreneurs to chase their dreams.

This year has been transformative for me—both mentally and physically. Here are the biggest lessons I’ve learned:
• America is setting us up for failure. From processed food to the corporate grind and car-centric cities, it’s no wonder so many of us struggle with weight and health. An antidote? Prioritize healthy food, build an ego outside of career, and walk more daily (>7k steps).
• Health makes you feel younger. Getting healthier doesn’t just change your body—it clears your mind. You stop stressing about aging and start focusing on what you can do now. I have more energy and dopamine every day now.
• Habits take time. Change isn’t instant. It took me 3 months to form habits, 6 months to develop them, and even longer to sustain them. Structure and support systems are key. In-person retreats like @lamaifitness and online personal training from @elliotmillerpt made all the difference for me.
• It’s not all or nothing. You can enjoy desserts, drink wine, and still get amazing results. It’s not about perfection but about balance and consistency.

After 7 years of working non-stop in tech, I realized that my identity outside of my career was… non-existent. My energy and health was falling apart and my hobbies were fading outside of work. So I took a sabbatical to explore what life has to offer beyond the professional horizon. All I can say is it’s been a treasure so far. I feel more alive now than ever before. I’ve reconnected with my martial arts past, by training Muay Thai in the jungle of Thailand with 2x Muay Thai world champion @jordan.w.bc and the extraordinary team. I’m eating healthy, fresh fruits meats and vegetables every single day. I’ve re-programmed my brain to understand how habit formation, nutrition, breathwork, and fitness can transform my body thanks to @elliotmillerpt and @breath_warrior . Most of all, I’ve met lovely people along the way who’ve taught me that no matter where humans are from, we are all fundamentally the same. ✌️ out ATL —> a 3 week stay here turned into 2 years, but I’m filled with gratitude to have reconnected with my hometown during a historic period. I witnessed the Dawgs rise to win the National Championship with some my great friends @rehandme @trstukes @aaballas, volunteered for the Dems and celebrated in the streets of Piedmont when GA turned blue to elect Biden as @potus, reconnected with my family and welcomed in @shweta_camble , and experienced the newfound energy in ATL from Atlanta United games to rap battles in Edgewood. Next stop is the Pacific Coast, but my roots are always in GA. taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @devxiyer

We stepped outside our lodge in eastern Iceland and saw the Aurora Borealis fluttering across the sky. Above the lights was the entire Milky Way galaxy in all its glory. We kept staring at the sky and eventually saw 4 comets bursting through the stars and emitting blue, white, and red colors while burning up in the atmosphere. Sometimes we get so absorbed inside our heads that we don’t notice all the magic happening above it 🖖 10/10 would recommend Iceland taken in Fellabær by @devxiyer

Aviation and human space flight have fascinated me since I was a little kid. I’m excited to start my journey of getting a PPL (private pilot license)!
