This year didn’t start off quite like we planned, as we unexpectedly had to say goodbye to our sweet Cleo 💔

Almost three years ago, this little stray showed up in our backyard and never left. She was shy and dainty, but also playful and strong. She loved being outside and rolling in the dirt. Skeptical of humans at first, but once she trusted you, she was the sweetest girl you’d ever meet.

We are so grateful that she chose us as her family. We loved her deeply, and we will miss her more than words can say. I know she was greeted at the rainbow bridge by my sweet Forest and all the special animals I’ve known and loved. How lucky are we to know this kind of love? My heart is completely shattered after saying goodbye to my best friend yesterday 💔

Words will never capture all the joy and love Forest brought into my life. My boy was strong, smart, wise. The keeper of our house. My protector for the past 12 years. Forest was resilient, kind, and patient. He loved going for walks and running on trails. He loved basking in the sun. He loved howling at the sirens as they passed by. He loved eating anything and everything he could get his paw on. He loved butt dances and belly rubs from the many, many people that adored him. Most of all, he loved me. How lucky am I?

Forest has been with me through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Somehow it all felt easier with him by my side. Now, as I’m facing the biggest heartbreak of my life, I don’t have him to help me through. It feels impossible to move forward without him, but I will carry him with me and honor his memory every step of the way.
