feeling this loss so deeply. Nikki G, thank you thank you. i am the writer and artist i am because you were.

a few months ago, while walking home one night L and I popped into a cafe/record shop and stumbling upon an absolute gem of a record (slide 4), Truth Is On Its Way by Nikki Giovanni for $5?! I couldn’t believe it. But was so grateful it was coming home with us because this is how i first fell in love with Nikki’s artistry way back when, listening to her poetry albums and feeeeeeeeling every word in my body. In many ways, Nikki has been part of my journey of returning to my body and to my power. always reminding us, in her own truth telling, that she was on this messy journey with us. you gave us so much, you gave us everything you had, may you rest easy now 💫 by @devynsimonedreams
