Founded in 2019 by Mexican-Samoan athlete Desiree Ale, Her Game is a leadership and exposure platform born from lived experience and built to tear down the barriers that have long kept girls and women on the sidelines of their own potential.

Through education, organizing, and high-impact programming, it creates real access, real visibility, and real power for athletes from underserved communities.

Her Game exists for every girl who was overlooked, underestimated, or told the door wasn’t open, and it exists to make sure she walks through it anyway. by @dez.ale

We launched HerGame in October 2019. I lost my job a month prior. I had this idea of curating an elevated experience for grassroots girls, just as the boys had at that time. Since it was viewed as a conflict of interest, I was given an ultimatum ➡️ My job or the idea of HerGame.

I prayed and asked God for a sign. Every time I opened my phone, it was nothing but girls’ basketball content. That’s when I knew my purpose. I am thankful for the test because if I had not been challenged in that situation, I wouldn’t have known what it takes to be uncomfortable in having the audacity to bet on myself.

On October 6, 2019, we launched the Her Game Classic and went viral. My initial goal was to prove that the grassroots girls space needed the same support as the boys did then We became the absolute first platform to promote grassroots girls’ basketball virally, shining a massive, well deserved spotlight on young hoopers who were traditionally ignored by mainstream media in Southern California.

This Saturday, We Celebrate 7 Years. So grateful for it all.
