Renovate the kitchen? Rethink the layout? Invest in new furnishings? Or take some time to figure out what your home really needs?

The decisions that follow buying a home can be just as important as the purchase itself.

Join us on November 5 for an intimate evening of design, real estate, and thoughtful investment, hosted by DFI Interiors, BostonTeam Kitchen Design Lab, and Coldwell Banker.

We’ll bring together three industry experts for an open conversation about what to renovate, what to preserve, where to invest, and when to simply leave things alone.

Expect practical advice, fresh perspectives, and honest conversations about making a house feel like yours.

🥂 Cocktails, conversation & expert insights
📅 Thursday, November 5 | 6:00–8:15 PM
📍 BauTeam Showroom | 511 Tremont Street, Boston

We’d love for you to join us. RSVP through the link in our bio. ✨ by @dfi_interiors

A little pattern. A lot of personality.

Proof that even the most functional spaces deserve a thoughtful design moment. From the playful wallpaper to the warm, earthy finishes, every detail brings something special to this room.

Because beautiful design shouldn’t be reserved for the rooms you spend the most time in.

A powder room that proves small spaces can make a big statement.

Layered pattern, warm walnut, and sculptural lighting turn this little room into one of our favorite moments in the home.

A beautiful home isn’t the result of one perfect paint color or one great piece of furniture.

It’s the result of a series of decisions made in the right order.

Flooring. Lighting. Paint. Hardware and trim. Stone and tile. Scale. Color. Texture.

And finally, the layers that make a home feel distinctly yours.

When those decisions are considered together, a home feels cohesive and intentional, not simply “finished.”

And when they’re made out of order? That’s often when you end up replacing something you just installed, buying furniture twice, or wondering why a room still doesn’t feel quite right.

We make these decisions every week for homes throughout the Boston area.

Comment “NINE” below and we’ll send you our 9 Design Choices checklist to help you figure out where your home might be getting stuck.

A room changes throughout the day.

Here, the late afternoon light catches the brass floor lamp, warms the wood tones and brings an entirely different dimension to the patterned drapery. It’s a reminder that we’re never designing for just one moment or one photograph. We’re thinking about how a space will feel from morning to night.

The best rooms reveal something different every time the light changes.

One of the first questions homeowners ask when considering a renovation is: What should I actually budget?

And it’s an important question because realistic expectations at the beginning of a project make almost every decision that follows easier.

For many of the full-service projects we work on throughout Greater Boston, we typically plan around:
Powder rooms: $25K–$50K+
Full bathrooms: $40K–$80K+
Primary bathrooms: $80K–$150K+
Kitchens: $100K–$200K+
Custom kitchens with structural changes: $200K–$350K+

These aren’t one-size-fits-all numbers. Scope, construction, materials, custom millwork and the realities of the home itself can move the investment considerably. We broke down these numbers and much more in our new guide to what interior design, furnishing and renovation really cost in Greater Boston.

Save this for your future renovation, and read the full guide at the link in our bio.

A closer look at our Cambridge, MA project.

Moody blues, warm woods, and layers of texture transformed this once-overlooked lower level into a space designed for gathering, unwinding, and staying awhile.

Proof that a basement can have just as much personality as the rest of the home.

Sherwin-Williams just released its 2027 Colormix® Trend Forecast and naturally, we picked which colors we’d actually want to use.

Our favorites? White Duck, Clove, Roycroft Bronze Green, Red Barn, Midnight and High Sierra.

What we love about this year’s forecast is the move away from perfectly prescribed palettes. Instead, it’s about choosing color more intuitively and creating spaces that feel personal, layered and lived in.

And our picks can say a lot: warm whites, earthy neutrals, deep greens, rich reds and moody almost-blacks. Colors with depth, versatility and staying power.

Swipe through to see our edit and how we’d imagine using each one.

Which one would you choose?
