all right, this is a new week with the same goal as last week. hit the gym at least four times... well actually just hit the gym four times. since I started my workout journey and movied to Chicago, I haven't been as consistent as I used to be when I lived in Kansas City. I'm really starting to see the impact of my workouts and I've been able to see the change in my body post workouts. This week is the real workout week. I can't believe I'm to the point where setting up getting donations and have already started selling products! even just writing this post is giving me butterflies something. one of my friends had told me a few years ago was, not to do things on my own and there was a community willing to support me. all I have to do was ask. looking back at it... that message was for the me today. I've always been shy when it comes to asking for help or when it comes to being open about not knowing the answers to things. starting this business is the epitome of doing something and not knowing the answers and it's terrifying, but something in my gut is telling me that I'm on the right track. even when things go wrong. it's all part of the process. so my first step in taking their advice is setting up a Kickstarter. starting a business is expensive and I know that there's a community out there looking to support businesses that are founded on integrity and culture and authenticity. I'm not someone to ask for help. So I'm definitely not going to ask for help and not give you something in return. Today is a huge deal because my wellness brand is an officially registered brand here in the city of Chicago. I've spent a lot of time dreaming about what kind of product I should launch, how am I going to show up, is anybody going to buy this thing?? I know at the very least my family will support me 😅. I'm super excited to be working on building a brand that is more than just another product out there in the world. it's a case study in every aspect of my life, my marketing chops, my wellness journey, the discipline that it's taken to build something from the ground up. all of it's starting to manifest in the real world and I'm so excited. the email list is open. conversations are being had. We did it. we made it to the gym! honestly, the entire part of the journey when it comes to wellness has been such an uphill battle for me. but one thing that I've decided to make sure I do is stay consistent. you may hear it all the time but consistency is what actually makes change. I didn't lose 50 lb in 3 months. I lost 50 lb in 3 years. sure. there's faster ways to lose weight but my goal wasn't to lose weight. my goal was to be healthier. and now that I'm healthier, I'm working towards building a community to help people stay accountable, whether that's being more intentional with the foods they eat, their movement, or just trying to make better daily choices. becoming a better. you takes time and eventually you'll get to the point when you start looking in the mirror and seeing the change that you want to see. showing up to the gym consistently is probably one of the hardest things when it comes to a wellness journey, or at least it's been one of the hardest things for me. even now I'm still struggling to make it to the gym the four times a week that I'm supposed to. but when I do even if it's not 100%, I know that I did some work and then my body is thankful for it. these next 30 days I'm going to try to go hard in the paint when it comes to going to the gym because I have some events coming up that I would love to have a good pump going. this is what my Brand's about though and it's the reason why I named it the way I did. but more on that later right now I need to actually start working out. #proteinpowder #startup #LatinoTikTok #buildinginpublic #wellness by @dfordarrell

Building the Brand: Episode 2 When I was thinking about the branding behind my wellness brand. Something that was really important to me, was making sure that each element of the brand reflected and represented something about Puerto Rico. Whether in symbolism, history or the language When I was thinking about the brand colors, I wanted to make sure that it was something that would stand out on shelves in stores and also in search results online. As a marketing gay, the idea behind having a brand able to stand out on its own with the packaging is super important. The way people look at packaging and how they shop is completely different than it was years ago. Packaging was minimal and drew people to the product while they were in store to pick up, interact and learn about the product while it was in hand. As e-commerce has grown, we've seen a shift in how people shop and packaging become more bold. That's where the blue comes in. as a Founder building a wellness brand from scratch, I wanted to make sure that I was building something that reflects who I am and is deeply rooted in culture and identity. one of the things that really stuck out to me as I started doing more research about different traditions, Puerto Rican and indigenous culture of the island. these the vejigante masks kept on popping up. as a kid I've seen these around but I never understood the significance behind them or really what they meant until I started doing research and getting back in touch with my roots. as someone who's lost over 40 lb in 3 years and has completely changed who they are, these masks were the perfect representation of taking control of yourself, your identity and your story.
