Arrived a little early today at #umbcgrad and had a moment to sit in the room and take it all in.

Grateful for the invitation to speak at UMBC’s Graduate School of Public Policy about my experience moving from the workforce into graduate school, transitioning from the MPP program into the PhD program, and the very real challenge of balancing work, family, and doctoral studies.

There’s something meaningful about having the opportunity to share the lessons, challenges, and growth from a journey you’re still walking.

Grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to the conversation.

This one means a lot to me.

@umbclife

UMBC featured my story, and reading it reminded me just how far God has brought me.

There was a time when addiction consumed my life and I couldn't see a future. Today, I get to use that same lived experience to help improve overdose response, advocate for people in recovery, and continue my education.

If my story reaches one person who's wondering whether change is possible, I hope they know this:

Don't quit. Your life isn't over. Your story can become someone else's hope.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for me, stood beside me, challenged me, and never gave up on me. I carry all of you with me.
