August 15 took us back to the Fort Frenzy Ultra Festival. As usual it did not disappoint. It was brutally hot but the East Coast Adventures team did not disappoint! It's always great to share some miles with old friends and make new ones along the way! This trail community never gets old! I wish I could list everyone by name! These people freekin' rock! The Pistol Ultra 3/9/24; It never ceases to amaze me at the gratitude and humility that you experience in and around ultra events! From amazing volunteers, competitors, and some awesome race directors! The conditions on this day were less than favorable, but you couldn't tell by the spirit of this event! I heard a famous ultra runner by the name of @robertpaulapple say something so simple at my first 100 miler but so true. "People are amazing." And man, is he right. On this day, I would not have wanted to be anywhere else except Alcoa,Tn running the Pistol Ultra! I always look forward to seeing my amazing wife at the finish line for a hug and a kiss!Thank you to everyone who participated in any way at the event! Special thanks to the @runeastcoastadventures running family! I think just about all of them showed up to support in some way! I love all of y'all! And the photographers for getting some great shots in the nasty weather! All of the aid stations were topnotch! Thank you! by @dgrant.77

Oct. 15, Tasha and I hit the Smokys for our annual hike to Mt. LeConte. This made 9 years running. The fall colors were spectacular! We started in the dark and got a couple miles in the dark. The sun lighting the trail as it rose was quite a site also! The views on top were as good as they get. I finished the hike with a cold dip in the creek! taken in Mt. Tasha and I along with a couple of friends took to the Piney Butte and Blue Heron area today for a little @nobusiness100 recon/training. I have been lacking motivation lately and really didn't want to run this race but it was important for me to support this event. The weather was terrible with downpouring rain, sunshine and good ol' east Tn humidity! As I always say this community is something special! Kind words of support and encouragement are always nice and the familiar friendly faces are always a treasure to see! With the horrible conditions and a harder effort than I had planned I hit 30 miles with roughy 20 minutes still on the clock. I told myself I was content with that result but with my weak mind and some goading from fans (friends) I went back out for one more loop...

Valentine's Day took Tasha and I to the Cumberland Trail. We ran/hiked from Head of the Sequatchie to Brady Mtn trailhead. It was another awesome adventure spent with my best friend! What a lucky guy I am to have a wife who chose me and the trail on Valentine's Day! 😁

Nov. 8th I headed to Soddy Daisy to take on the Upchuck 50k. This being after a brutal 5 week stretch. Barkley Fall Classic, Virginia 100, and No Business 100 leading up to this. Let me just say, that was STUPID! This is a beautiful but extremely difficult course that is appropriately named. The Upchuck beat me down but it was awesome! It really is an awesome event with more amazing people! Matt and Chad are awesome! Tasha was there supporting me as always and helping others. I was fortunate to meet Ray who pulled me along the last 12 miles to the finish while rationing water! 🤣😂 No joking! Can't wait until my next Upchuck! taken in Soddy Daisy, TN by @dgrant.77

Tasha and I worked the Fall Creek 100 this weekend at Fall Creek Falls State Park. It was a blast and always a blessing to be on the helping side of the table! To see people do amazing things is always so rewarding! To be able to witness @robertpaulapple continuing to set the ultra marathon record ceiling is always a treat! It never gets old meeting the awesome people that do this ultra thing! Our aid station crew was top notch (Gary and Jeff) and Green Tunnel Events really have a great event here! On October 24th I ran the No Business 100. This being after some of my life's dumbest decisions! That being running a hundred miler two weeks prior and the Barkley Fall Classic five weeks prior!That was STUPID! 🤣
That being said, this was one of if not the best ultra running experiences that I have had. There were so many dear friends and familiar faces that were involved in some capacity! From runners, to volunteers, to pacers, and just spectators!
I ran the majority of this race with @ultracory2024 and @lmarunning. The commraderie in this ultra crowd is always amazing. Not just in my circle but it's very wide spread! You see people at their highest and people at their lowest and still a willingness and desire to help you if possible in any way.
As long as the Lord above allows me to keep my memory, this one will be forever special! So many people that I'm thankful for and several of those I've not know very long but feels like I've known them my hole life! They gave in some compacity to help us run for this buckle! It truly is a family feel and I can't be thankful enough!
Everything else about this event, WOW just WOW! Everything is absolutely 100% top notch!
What Brian, Shelly, and Gordon put inti this event is truly awesome and I can't thank them enough! The volunteers and their aid stations are the most amazing thing out there! It was like rolling up to a buffet at various times throughout the event! Thank you all so much! I could go on and on about how special this race was to me! Thanks to all who gave in any way to make this happen!
A big special thanks to my wife for being there and also to all if my ECA Family for for, running, supporting, pacing, and just being there! Those finish line vibes were 🔥!

On October 11th, Tasha and I along with several ECA family members took on the Virginia 100. We all brought home the coveted buckle!
This was an old railroad that had been converted to a beautiful trail! It was an absolutely beautiful day shared with some pretty awesome folks! As always the smiles and encouragement that you receive from other runners, volunteers, and spectators were abundant. Most of all this race was so special because Tasha and I covered every single step of this thing together and it's always so rewarding to finish a long hard race and see friends waiting and cheering you across the finish line!
