The Israeli village with a waiting list to get in.
Why? Here, Jews & Arabs *want* to live alongside one another. And the secret to its success? They have to share power.

Welcome to Neve Shalom / Wahat El Salam.

That’s 3L of Aperol (?!?) and infinite gratitude.

* At a time when newsrooms are shrinking, when reports are increasingly rushed out and condensed into a 60 second Instagram clip, to be told by @globalnews to go all over the West Bank and explain what it means to live under occupation was an absolute privilege. Equally, watching our colleagues in Gaza, WB & Lebanon risk their lives to get the pictures out, has been deeply humbling.

Thank you to @kodea18 🐉 @fadiabudiab & Marc D’Amours for making it all happen and to the @theforeignpressassociation for recognising our reporting from Jenin & Hebron.

** Congratulations to my buddy @themarkmackinnon for his 75765th award, this time on the Ukrainian SF team that rescued @globeandmail translators from Afghanistan. Good night for 🇨🇦.

*** And @andrew.macdougall - see I did post! - your support means the world to me.

You’ll know the name Amal Clooney, but you might not have heard of Danny Friedman.

Both lawyers were part of a panel that supported the International Criminal Court’s decision to issue arrest warrants for Hamas leaders, as well Israeli officials including PM Benjamin Netanyahu - who now sits on the “Board of Peace” in Gaza.

Here’s our months-long investigation into the IDF’s claim that it can hold itself accountable and hear from the man who co-wrote the original IDF code of ethics. Is he still defending the Israeli military?

I have no idea how Afghan women keep going, effectively trapped in their homes unless accompanied by a male chaperone. They spend a lot of time online, provided the internet is working, watching the rest of us post about our daily lives, holidays and parties we attend all the while wearing whatever the hell we want to wear.

The Taliban have banned women from classrooms after age 12 but many, with decent connectivity and supportive families, haven’t stopped learning. Here’s a lesson in perseverance for all of us.

Very much admire @clanchykate for her commitment to these women.

Another attack by Israeli settlers on journalists, this time the targets were colleagues @mattmcbradley & the top notch @NBCnews crew who were doing their job in the occupied West Bank. Thankfully, they only walked away with minor injuries. The Palestinian woman they were interviewing was also beaten. She’s been released from hospital but cannot recover at home as it is *occupied by settlers.*

Settler violence against foreign media, and let’s face it especially American, used to be somewhat rare, now it’s increasingly common. As for violence against Palestinian journalists.. look up #SherineAbuAkleh. Where is the accountability?

While you’re reading this, a reminder that the Israeli govt still won’t let journalists into Gaza.

It’s been quite the journey since the initial shock of this funny-looking foot, along with one doctor’s mention of amputation. We had to wait until she was old enough and the discrepancy in her legs big enough to go ahead with this surgery. A fierce little girl, our Léa. Deeply grateful to the staff at @greatormondst hospital for the care she was given.

Heart is full after a family reunion I never thought possible along with a redo of a picture I thought no one would take seriously. ❤️ The dads can still be heard belting out some Charles Aznavour and the crazy blond boy in the original picture is my brother whose last minute wardrobe change to reflect historical accuracy is commendable. by @dhamamdjian

A scorching heatwave continues to grip Europe with historic triple-digit temperatures, prompting the closure of iconic tourist attractions, including the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. Air conditioning is rare, too. Only about 20% of households have it. Forecasters warn the worst is still ahead. NBC News foreign correspondent Daniele Hamamdjian reports from Paris. by @dhamamdjian
