The situation at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara, Punjab, has escalated into a major student protest, with questions around campus safety, an alleged s*xual assault, university accountability and the spread of unverified information.

The protests began on September 27 after claims circulated among students that a female student had allegedly been sexually assaulted inside a girls’ hostel. Students gathered demanding a transparent investigation, answers from the university administration and stronger security measures on campus. Some protesters also alleged that hostel authorities had been informed about the incident but failed to take appropriate action. These claims remain part of the ongoing investigation and have not been independently established.

The situation later turned violent. Reports said parts of the campus were vandalised, vehicles and other property were damaged or set on fire, and the Jalandhar–Phagwara National Highway was blocked. Clashes were also reported between protesters and police, following which police used a lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. Authorities have said legal action will be taken against those involved in vandalism and violence.

A significant point of contention is that LPU has denied the allegations circulating on social media, describing them as false, misleading and fabricated. The university has also presented statements from students associated with the hostel room where the alleged incident was said to have taken place. Students, however, have questioned the university's version and called for an independent and transparent investigation.

Police have now registered a case and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the allegations. The investigation is expected to establish what actually happened, who was involved and whether there were any lapses in campus administration or security. Until the investigation is completed, claims circulating on social media should be treated with caution.

Amid the unrest, LPU has suspended regular classes for 10 days from September 28 and postponed mid-term examinations until further notice. Students remaining on campus have been advised to sta by @dhh.semi

People have started calling Yung DSA “MC Stan 2.0” after seeing his personality and journey inside Bigg Boss 20, but the comparison doesn’t really tell the whole story. While both artists come from a hip-hop background and have brought their raw, unfiltered personalities to the Bigg Boss house, their journeys and personalities are quite different.

MC Stan had his own identity, attitude, language, struggles and way of connecting with the audience during his Bigg Boss journey. Yung DSA, on the other hand, is slowly creating his own space on the show. From talking about his struggles and the difficult phases of his life to performing his music and interacting with the housemates, he is showing a personality that is uniquely his.

The similarities may be easy to notice because both come from the underground hip-hop culture and have a very different energy compared to the typical Bigg Boss contestant. But being influenced by the same culture doesn’t mean they are the same person.

Calling every rapper who enters Bigg Boss “the next MC Stan” can sometimes take away from what makes that artist different in the first place. Yung DSA deserves to be watched for his own journey, his own personality and his own story rather than constantly being compared to someone who already created his own legacy.

MC Stan is MC Stan. @yung_dsa is Yung DSA. Both can exist with their own identities, and maybe it’s time we let Yung DSA build his own Bigg Boss journey instead of trying to fit him into someone else’s template. by @dhh.semi
