CHICAGO-I love you!! This will be the only time I will say “I ran a marathon in full sun and 75 degrees and loved it!”.
My 26th marathon and lucky enough to run representing Ronald McDonald House Charities. Thank you to all who donated and especially to Rachel for letting me take over her spot! Prior to race day, I felt very confident in my training and knowing how flat the course was and past races have gone, I thought a 4:30-4:35 might be possible. HA! After obsessing over the weather forecast for days, I knew it was going to be a hot one! I was in the first corral of wave 3 which starts at 8:30am (representing all mid-pack runners!). The start of the race was incredible! The city turned out to support us! Music and crowds from start to finish! I cried about 7 times taking in the scenery and thinking, “I can’t believe I’m here!”. Even though my fueling and hydration was on point, by the time I was 3 miles in, I knew I would have to revamp goals. Made a porta potty stop at 6 miles and then another at mile 18. Those few minutes waiting at each cost me, but I still thought l could shuffle through to a 5 hour finish. The heat was getting to me, I heard announcements we were now at “red alert”🚨, meaning to slow down, hydrate, and use extreme caution. I still had 8 miles to go, I dumped water on my head at every aid station, but I kept running. Had to make a 3rd bathroom break 🤢around mile 21, I was feeling a little sad, but then I thought “quit being a little bitch, you’re doing the Chicago marathon!”. I have to tell you, the crowds carried me through this entire course. I loved hearing strangers yell, “go Deb!”, “you got this!”, etc. It moved me to keep going. I saw so many people around me getting sick, doing a staggering walk, or just stop and call it a day. I was not going to quit. Sure, marathons are hard even on the best of days, but pushing through when it’s less than ideal, that’s what makes me the most proud. Ran the slight incline right before the finish and crossed at 5:12:28. My slowest marathon in 9 years, but still the best time I’ve ever had. It was so good, going to do it again! Happy Birthday, Brad! I love your generosity, thoughtfulness, your funny made up songs, inside jokes, your Mariners loyalty (not always warranted), your support through the toughest times, and always making it your job to make me laugh. Thankful for you and hope you have a wonderful day! 🎉🥂🎂 by @dhoffpau

Time to Beat the Blerch! I have been wanting to do this race for a long time, and luckily my training plan called for 13 miles. I was telling my friend, Kathryn how this was the first half marathon I didn’t feel completely spent at the end! I thoroughly enjoyed the cake at the aid stations, took in the beautiful views, and enjoyed a downhill cruise the last half of the race. Finished around 2:23, which is right on target for my long run easy runs, plus a 3rd place age group and awesome Jimothy medal. I got right back to training and did another 8 miles yesterday and today. 4 weeks till Chicago!! Put this race on your calendar for next year. by @dhoffpau

What a week! 9 weeks down, less than 9 weeks to go till Chicago Marathon.
MONDAY: super easy chill AM run, short lunch walk
TUESDAY: so much smoke in the air! Glad it was a rest day, did my usual lunch walk of 1.3 miles
WEDNESDAY: Hazy skies at the track. AM: 8 miles of intervals. PM: 1.4 mile walk
THURSDAY: 2.3 mile to and from gym. Not pictured, but did 30 minute lower body strength training
FRIDAY: AM: 6 mile run PM: 1.3 mile walk
SATURDAY: 6.1 mile run and massage (I take self care seriously)
SUNDAY: 18 miles! Felt super strong and confident even though that last 1.50 mile was a challenge 🥵🥵. Nothing better than a big breakfast and Brad having my coffee ready when I finished. #run #marathon #marathontraining #runner #chicagomarathon taken in Renton, Washington by @dhoffpau

Had the most wonderful time in Amarillo visiting my Rachel and the best pups, Caddy and Miles. I wish I would’ve taken more pics, but there was just no time! Jam packed with love, laughs, cocktails, retail therapy, head spa experiences, authentic Mexican food, visiting friends (love you @capriciouscass and @shyshy_3), disco naps, and baseball! Whew! Im the luckiest mom! Can’t wait to see you again, Rachel! by @dhoffpau

Snohomish Women’s Run 05/09/2026 Half Marathon #28. Because I postponed my annual trip to Texas a bit, I was able to participate again this year 😁. Although not a huge fan of out and back courses, the vibes of this race are top notch and the last couple of miles are full shade in Rotary Park. Not my best time on this course, just got tired and drained. I was ok with slowing down a bit during mile 11 and 12. Finished and felt amazing!! @snohomish_womens_run @humagel #humabeing #halfmarathon by @dhoffpau

It’s my sister, Susan’s birthday! 🎉 She deserves all the love and praise, because that’s what she gives to everyone who knows her. Dori and I are so lucky we got to grow up with her, taking us to concerts, movies, Mazzio’s, listening to records in her room, making us watch Donny and Marie and The Hardy Boys on Sunday nights, and generously letting us borrow all her accessories 😁. I love you, Bo and hope you have a wonderful day! Enjoy that coffee! 😉 by @dhoffpau

Had a blast doing the Tenacious Ten on Saturday. My 7th time doing this race, but my first time doing the 10k+ (6.6 mile) instead of the 10 mile…Wise choice! Weather was perfect, scenery was exceptional, pacers and volunteers were top notch, just great vibes all around! My goals were to run consistent and stay at a 9:25 pace, but ended up doing a bit faster 😁👍🏻. I’m officially feeling motivated for my next race. #run #runner #humabeing @tenacious10_seattle taken in Gas Works Park by @dhoffpau
