Say what you want about the voice. The compositions? Untouchable. Himesh gave the 2000s hooks that are still getting streams while the memes faded years ago. Melody was never his problem. Deployment was. Which Himesh melody still lives rent free in your head? Follow @dhuntherapy for more music critique.

Vishal Mishra is proof that the singer and the composer should sometimes be the same person. When the man who wrote the melody also sings it, the song carries one emotion from the first note to the last. You can hear it in Tum Ho Toh from Saiyaara, the track climbing every chart right now. Most film songs get assembled like a relay race and sound exactly like that. Which composer singer is carrying Bollywood right now?

Jubin Nautiyal has one of the smoothest voices in this generation and Bollywood treated him like the polite backup option. Laado showed what he does with a real film song, then Barbaad from Saiyaara put him front and center. Clean, controlled voices do not go out of style. The industry just forgot how to market them.

Say what you want about star power. Give me a voice with zero strain and perfect placement over a viral moment any day. Armaan Malik is the most technically clean male voice of his generation and the industry still treats him like a backup option. That math has never made sense to me. Who do you think is the most underrated voice in Bollywood right now?

Am I hearing things or does Chand Mera Dil sound like it was written in the 90s and just arrived late? Sachin Jigar, Faheem Abdullah on vocals, and a melody that feels more remembered than made. Homage or creative bankruptcy, you tell me.

Everyone kept saying romance was dead on the big screen and the album was dead on streaming. Then Mohit Suri walked in with a debutant cast, dropped a song a week, and let a full album do the marketing. Saiyaara became the highest grossing Indian romantic film of all time. That is what happens when the director hears the music before the cameras roll. Aashiqui 2 did it. Ek Villain did it. How long before the rest of the industry relearns it?

Everyone clowns Amaal Mallik for the sequel noise. But go back to his originals. Roy. Soch Na Sake. Badri. The man writes patient, hummable melody. Labels keep handing him recreations because recreations are safe. Which Amaal original do you still have on loop?

A song used to earn its hook. Mukhda built the mood, antra carried the feeling, and the hook landed because it meant something.

Now it is backwards. The clip gets written first, the rest of the song is padding around it, and you can hear the difference. That is why you hum the fifteen seconds and skip the other three minutes.

A melody that only survives the reel was never a song. It was an ad for one.

What is the last film song you actually played end to end, not just the hook?

Name a remake that beat the original. I will wait. Remixes are marketing with a beat on top. Originals were written. That is the whole difference. Follow for more music critique.

Bilal Saeed writes, sings and produces. He was composing for other artists before he ever sang 12 Saal, and he gave us Adhi Adhi Raat and Baari. One proper film score and he would have owned a whole year of Bollywood. Who else is sitting on that kind of talent without the big screen chance?

Mithoon does not get the spotlight but he writes the songs that never leave your playlist. Tum Hi Ho, Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga, Sanam Re. All slow burns, all still standing years later while trend songs vanish in weeks. Which Mithoon song lives rent free in your head?

Muskura Do is everywhere right now and it proves the point I keep making. Audiences are starving for voices they can recognize in two seconds. The industry keeps casting the same three singers and wonders why nothing connects. Which singer today has a voice you would know blindfolded?
