Soft light is always nice, but then again nice lights always finish last 😉

Hence our hard light workshop, hosted last week by our resident photographers @capturethepresent and @silvertracer

Throughout the session, we guided our attendees through theory, the distinct modifiers you can utilise to create hardlight and their differences in quality of light.

We broke down the basics and characteristics of hardlight and what to look out for and how to manage working with contrasty light with well defined shadows and highlights.

We demo’d a range of @profoto gear including B20s and D30s, beauty dish, zoom reflector/magnum/maxizoom reflector, fresnel and @westcottlighting optical spot + the @pmi_gear smoke ninja and with support by @diamondscamera and @c.r.kennedyimaging

We’d like to thank all our attendees for bringing their passion and curiosity to our workshop and creating such a great night for all 🙏

This Friday! Join Diamonds Camera and Sony Advocate Will Godward @godwardphotography for a relaxed evening photo walk through the spectacular installations of Illuminate Adelaide 2026.

Meeting at Diamonds Camera, we will make our way through the Adelaide CBD, exploring illuminated buildings, laneways, projections and public spaces transformed into a vibrant nocturnal playground of colour, imagination and light.

This event is ideal for anyone who currently uses Sony equipment, is considering moving to the Sony system, or simply wants to enjoy photographing Illuminate Adelaide with a group of like-minded photographers.

I got my hands on the Rode Wireless Micro to try out. So, I thought I’d test it in an interesting way with the Panasonic Lumix S9.

📸 For this I’m using a mix of gear!
- The unboxing portion of the video is filmed on a DJI Osmo Pocket 3.
- The footage of the microphone being clipped on is filmed from my phone, which is mounted on top of the Lumix S9. Footage between cinematic shots is also directly from the phone (Samsung S21)
- all audio past the unboxing clip is directly from the Rode Wireless Micro
- All cinematic footage is from th #lumixs9 with sample LUT 3 applied. Recorded in the MP4Lite format

💬 What I love about this Microphone is that it is an extremely mindful, budget friendly option that actually works well. I swapped between the in camera audio and the Rode audio during editing and there was a pretty noticeable difference in the way the mic felt more polished and also limited unwanted noise. Additionally, having the MP4Lite format on the Lumix S9 meant that I didn’t need to get caught up in what video settings I wanted to use. I easily switched from Manual Photo Mode to video mode and with the applied LUT, I got the look I was aiming for, straight up! No shots in this video have been edited! All stills and video are “as captured” / “straight out of camera”

💁‍♀️ Something to note is that I was using the USB-C Smartphone version of the Rode Wireless Micro kit. Which meant that I had to use my phone to record the audio and then sync it to my footage later. I would recommend purchasing the dedicated Camera Kit version if you don’t plan on using it for your phone much! But it’s good to know that with some extra dedication, you can do what I did - even if it took twice as long to finish!

On a brisk night in the Middle of June, myself, @diamondscamera , @kither_co and @lumix_au took 40 avid Adelaide photographers for a photowalk, centred around highlighting the Panasonic Lumix S9 Full frame camera.

It was such a great experience bouncing ideas off one another, getting people to try a camera they may not have ever seen before!

I’d never used an S9 before, but I can safely say that after getting to use it for over an hour or so, I’m really digging it. It’s such a fantastic full frame camera option for those who are looking to keep their kit light & casual, but also demand excellence and modern results. This camera is so stylish, sleek and it paired well with the #smallrig hand grip for extra support. This entire video was shot using the S9 with the new 40mm F2 S lens and a custom in camera LUT!

On June 18th, @diamondscamera and @fujifilmx_au joined forces at @palacenova Eastend for the premiere of “No Art” a short film shot entirely on the Fujifilm GFX Eterna 55 by local filmmaker @jeddobre showcasing the breath-taking custom guitar pieces crafted by Jordan Reynolds at @thesoundgarageaustralia

In addition to Jed's work, we were able to showcase even more local talent with a bonus short film from our very own @aaron_westie

It was an incredible evening, with over 80 attendees enjoying engaging conversations, hands-on experiences with premium gear from Fujifilm, @nisifiltersaustralia , and @prismlensfx plus guests also had the chance to win prizes valued at a total of $1,300 in our raffle!

👑 Congratulations to our winners...we can’t wait to see what you get up to with your new gear.
