A month ago, pretty much everything was overwhelming for Snow. A new home, new people, other cats and being deaf meant we first had to figure out how to communicate with each other at all.

The other cats stressed him out a lot in the beginning, so for the first 1.5 weeks we kept him completely separate and then introduced everyone very slowly, step by step.

And now look at him. 🥹

He gained almost a kilogram, gets a little more confident every day, has zoomies with Pixel and can now just be around the other cats completely relaxed. Most of the time everyone just does their own thing, and sometimes they’ll play or have little moments together. 🙏🏽
He also has fully discovered the joy of autumn sunbathing on the balcony. ☀️
We’ve also started teaching him hand signals. He already understands our sign for “come here”, and now we’re slowly adding more so we can communicate with him better and better.

Food is still a bit of a sensitive topic, but apart from that, he’s changed so much. He’s incredibly cuddly, always wants to be close and is becoming more playful and curious every day.

Watching him relax, take up space and simply enjoy being a cat is honestly the sweetest thing.

It’s only been a month, but it already feels like he belongs here. 🤍

We weren’t supposed to find Snow. 🤍
On our first day in Crete, on our way to the beach, we spotted a little white cat hiding in the bushes at the exit of a busy road, somewhere in the mountains.
He was terrified and kept running away from us, so we couldn’t get close enough to see how bad his condition really was. We left him some food and water and drove on.
The next day, we didn’t see him.
And on the third day, we actually weren’t planning to go back. But somehow, both of us had this feeling that we needed to return to that exact place.
So we did.
When we got out of the car, Snow came running straight towards us from the other side of the road.

He remembered us.
He remembered the people who had given him food and water.

This time, he let us come close. He let us touch him. He trusted us.
And that was when we finally saw how bad his condition was.
He was severely underweight and covered in fleas. His tail had been broken multiple times and his ears were badly burned from the intense sun.
He was completely alone next to a busy road in the mountains. There were no other cats around. No one looking after him. We can only imagine what he had been through.
We contacted several organisations for help, but unfortunately, they were all overwhelmed. Nobody was able to take him in.
So after a very long day, we made a decision: If nobody else could help Snow, we would.
We would adopt him and bring him home.
He was taken to a veterinary clinic, where he received the care, treatment and vaccinations he needed. They cared for him until he was ready to travel.
It was only after arriving in Germany that we discovered that Snow is deaf. And then, after everything he had been through, he finally came home.
Today, he is the sweetest little boy. He loves cuddles, he loves to play, and he follows us around as if he has always belonged here. We still don’t know what happened to him before he found us.
But we know one thing:
Maybe we weren’t meant to find Snow. Maybe he was meant to find us.Maybe some things are simply meant to be. 🤍
