Week 10 of marathon training.

week 8 of marathon training. a little reminder to myself lately.

I’m fucking pissed.

I’ve seen so many posts about women being assaulted, harassed, and somehow, the conversation still finds a way to become about the WOMAN.

What was she doing there? Why was she alone? Why did she drink? Why did she trust him? What was she wearing?

Why are we so obsessed with teaching women how to stay safe instead of teaching people not to commit it?

And how many cases do we actually hear about? How many victims speak up? How many report? How many stay silent because they’re afraid of being blamed, judged, threatened, or simply not believed?

We see the cases that make it into the public eye. We don’t see the silence.

I stand with women. I stand with survivors.

Teach boys. Teach men. Teach consent. Teach accountability. Call out your friends. Demand better from institutions, law enforcement, and government.

And when someone chooses to violate another person:

FUCKING HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE.

Don’t minimize it. Don’t excuse it. Don’t blame the victim. Don’t protect reputations at the expense of victims.

I’m tired of us women being taught how to stay safe.

I want a world where women don’t have to live in fear and where the people who hurt them actually face consequences. by @dianaquinones
