Spent the last few days in Delaware supporting the UTM Equestrian team. Friday the Skykawks competed against Baylor and Saturday, Delaware State.

Joe and I decided for Ava’s senior year we would both travel to all meets. (The past years we divided and conquered bc we have 1000 kids). 🤣.

Traveling with Joe is an adventure in and of itself.
Thursday we got half a mile down the road. Joe, do you have your wallet/ID? Oh crap.
Thursday night getting ready for bed at the hotel. Hey, you can plug your charger in here. Oh crap.
Last night walking into the airport I was like ok I need to drink all this water before security. Get through the detectors. TSA agent is holding his bag. Sir, is there anything sharp or dangerous in here? No. Ok do you mind if we search? Sure go ahead. Pulls out not one, not two, but 3 bottles of water. 😂
We laughed so hard (after security) I almost peed my pants.

Didn’t end like we wanted. Ava lost her point by .25 against Baylor and tied against DSU. Both rides were beautiful. UTM did not come away with the W for either meet. I know, close doesn’t count, but damn were there some close rides. Lots of points decided by .25 and lots of ties. Saturday’s weather was also crazy. The girls rode in mud and if you watched them waste up, you’d never know.

This team, the parents, these trips…I’m sad that so much of this is our last.

We flew into Reagan (I love DC) Thursday then drove 2 hours to our hotel.
Friday morning was the meet against Baylor. That night the parents went out to dinner on the ocean bay. (Yum bacon wrapped scallops).
Saturday was the meet against DSU (60 and rainy, fun times). Joe and I grabbed an amazing burger back at Reagan at a cute restaurant & landed in DFW around 9pm. The team flew in and out of Philly so Ava grabbed an og cheesesteak sandwich before flying out.

Next up, Brookings South Dakota and Ava’s start, Crookston MN. by @diannaglenn

What the hercules!! those weights are not that small. Geez. I thought video added pounds. They look tiny. They were/are not tiny!!!

Also, I know we are all exhausted. At lesat we can all agree. lol.

Anywho, two weeks ago Joe was sick. So I skipped the whole week. Blah.
Last week we drove to Tennessee and back, it was a stressful travel week , so I cut my workouts short.

Next week is another travel week.

Still going to keep doing all of it. Some days it’s 20%, some days it’s 💯. Most days I don’t think I’ll make it to Friday. By the grace of God I do.

Joe and I are heading home from the @utmequestrian blue and orange scrimmage. First meet of the season and the start of Ava’s senior year.

We pulled the camper and will store it in Tennessee to use for the 2026-2027 season and Ava’s graduation. (gulp) If you have ever owned a travel trailer the first few pics should come as no surprise. Luckily, we caught a low tire while fueling and avoided a roadside blow out.

Time goes by so incredibly fast. Just a year ago UTM and the Skyhawks were all new to us and now they feel like family. Watching Ava and the team not only do their sport but put in ALL THE WORK that goes on behind the scenes to run a smooth successful meet.

Ava and her teammate rode a brand spanking new to them horse, Kit. Kit arrived the night before. They both had beautiful rides working out a few Kit kinks.

Saturday night the team put on a fundraiser social. Again, the maturity and organization from 20ish year olds, is phenomenal. After the social Joe and I watched them take care of all the horses (horse parade back to their stables), clean up and dismantle all after their 4:30am wake up.

In two weeks we head to Delaware where the Skyhawks will compete against Delaware State and Baylor. taken in Martin, Tennessee by @diannaglenn

Pics and videos from the Freshmen/JV tourney at Arete in McKinney Thursday and today. Love watching these girls play. The freshmen had very close games and came away with a win in the end. Kate had a great serving go over the two days…about 20 serves, missing 2. She had decent plays at the net too. Playing middle is not her fave, but like we told her on the ride home…it’s more important how you handle opportunities that are put before you especially when they are not your plan/choice/fave. This group of freshmen had a fabulous 8th grade season. It has naturally been an adjustment adding Kate to the team. We are all adjusting. I am emotionally adjusted out. You know all that sports talk you hear about life lessons, etc?…well we are here. Kate’s attitude and team spirt was subpar today. I’ll give her a little grace (that word adjusting again), but we (her parents) have work to do. She does too. Winning is always the goal, however, what you get out of the game, being on a team…has far greater impact than the win. Hoping these next two days of decompressing and “listening to her parents”, will be what she needs to get back to it. Great group of girls and parents. by @diannaglenn

I post these, not for the pats on the back, not for the look at me, I post these for us. Us that go 90 to nothing, work, kids, sports, everything. Us that get up at 5am to take that tiny bit of time to take care of ourselves because it’s literally the only spare moment of the day we get before we crash into our beds at night.

I never ever want to. Ever. I never ever bounce out of bed when the damn alarm goes off at 4:30am. Yes, I snooze multiple times. I’m exhausted, but this is a season. A season I would not miss for anything. A season I would not trade for anything. We are IN IT. But, I also refuse to wake up in my 50’s and be like whoah, this is not going well.

So to the US. We can do hard things. Hard does not equal bad. We can push.

(And you want to know what helps me the most…music! Loud as it can be and whatever I am in the mood for. It varies from 90’s R&B to Chris Stapleton. LOL. ) by @diannaglenn

Although I loved a volleyball Friday night last week, there really is nothing better than pizza, cookies, a couch, and Gilmore Girls to unwind from the first full week of back to school. Dorothy said it best, there is no place like home.

I watched GG for the first time about 5ish years ago. A few years back, while Ava was in Minnesota, it was her comfort show. And now, Kate is 3 episodes in and hooked.

Happy weekend to all who celebrate 🎉 🎊👏 by @diannaglenn
