🥹 This is my granddaughter looking out at our dock at Jungle House Tampa.

🐊 And that is an alligator right underneath it.

💛 We live on this pond and we love it. We also respect it completely. In Florida, that is not optional.

🌿 Alligators are not the enemy. They are wild animals doing exactly what wild animals do. But recent tragedies have reminded all of us that awareness and education are everything, especially for our children.

👧🏼 Teach your children to never swim in dark or murky water. Never approach the water’s edge alone. Never feed an alligator. And always assume one could be nearby.

🐊 The sign on our dock is not a joke. It is a reminder that we share this beautiful state with incredible wildlife and that knowledge keeps everyone safe.

☀️ Enjoy Florida. Love Florida. Just remember her rules were written for every living thing that calls her home. 🙌🏽

🐊 Plot twist… Alligators DO make house calls… At least in Florida they do! 😂

🏊 My wonderful neighbors discovered a 5 foot alligator at the bottom of their pool this morning and you already know I was there in minutes.

🥹 Y'all. I'm pretty sure this is ‘FRICK’. He and his alligator brother ‘Frack’ used to patrol our backyard pond together for years. We lost Frack a while back, but Frick is still out here living his best life… apparently including a dip in the neighborhood pool!!! I LOVE IT, and I think he loves me back!

I sure loved this Mama alligator at Circle B Bar Reserve. She was a wonderful, even tempered Mom and I loved taking videos of her and her babies. 🥹🐊 #memories #alligators #naturelovers #fblifestyle #floridawildlife by @diannashinesbright

🥰 I come to Circle B for the ‘immersion therapy.’

🌿 If you stand still long enough you stop being a visitor. The beauty closes in around you until you feel like you’re part of the scenery. That’s when it wins you over.
🤔 Do you have a special place you go to feel like part of nature?

🐊 Living in Florida means sharing the water with the resident wildlife. Any pond, lake or canal can have an alligator in it, whether you see it or not.
💚 Keep your distance, never feed them, and for crying out loud keep pets, kids and anyone vulnerable back from the water's edge.
🌅 Dawn, dusk, and nighttime are when alligators are most active, although I’ve seen them plenty during the day. 😃 Would you live here?

🐊 Alvin doesn't just swim by… he makes an entrance! (Sometimes it’s a surprise entrance!).

💚 Sharing space with wild neighbors is a privilege we don’t take for granted.

🏡 This was the Alligator’s home first. We've respected that for over 36 years living here.

☀️ Respect and a little distance keep him and us safe.

I asked nicely and he moved!! 😂🐊

This enormous gator decided to turn the trail at Circle B Bar Reserve into his personal sunbathing spot.

🤷‍♀️ Unfortunately for me, he was blocking the entire path.

No one else around. Nowhere else I wanted to go. And definitely no crossing over him. So I stayed put and started chatting with him…

And then… WHOA! He turned so fast and literally flew back the way he came! It’s worth noting that when I thanked him, he seemed even more irritated and clearly couldn’t wait to get the heck away from me! 😂

“Thank you!” was all I had to say.

Turns out, all you have to do is ask. 😉 #SwampLife #FloridaWildlife #Alligators #CircleBBarReserve #AlligatorEncounter #ReptileLover #FBLifestyle #FloridaLiving #WildFlorida #NatureLovers #animalreels by @diannashinesbright
