travessia was presented at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, as part of TalentLAB 26.

The presentation marked the closing of a 10-day creative residency, corresponding to the first stage of development of the piece.

travessia is a creation by Peter Arcanjo and Lucas França, a performance piece that blends theater, dance, and performance art to rethink racialized and queer masculinities in a contemporary context.

We thank the artistic team who made this moment possible: @davidjamado , responsible for part of the texts and movement direction, who also performed in the piece, and @diogo____melo , the piece’s musician.

We would also like to thank the team at the @lestheatresvdl for their support and hospitality throughout this residency.

Só agora descobrimos que Travessia foi mencionada numa reportagem da revista francesa @coups_d_oeil , publicada após a nossa passagem pelo TalentLAB 2026, nos @lestheatresvdl , em Luxemburgo.

No texto, @olivierfgda descreve Travessia como “a peça mais inquietante do dia” e percorre algumas das questões centrais da nossa pesquisa: a representação do homem negro e a necessidade de “coreografar a própria existência para caber em padrões que o excluem”.

É especialmente bonito encontrar, algum tempo depois, um olhar de fora capaz de identificar e devolver questões que estiveram tão presentes ao longo do processo.

We just found out that Travessia was mentioned in an article by French magazine @coups_d_oeil, published after our participation in TalentLAB 2026, at @lestheatresvdl, in Luxembourg.

In the text, @olivierfgda describes Travessia as “the most unsettling piece of the day” and unpacks some of the central questions of our research: the representation of Black men and the need to “choreograph one’s own existence to fit into patterns that exclude it.”

It’s especially moving to find, some time later, an outside perspective able to identify and reflect back questions that were so present throughout the process.

In this post, we’re sharing excerpts of the piece in Portuguese, English, and the original French.

atravessar é um ato que não se faz sozinho.

travessia nasceu aqui — em ensaios, incertezas e descobertas compartilhadas com o Lucas França no TalentLAB 26, dos Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg. Um projeto multidisciplinar que me permitiu explorar a minha escrita para a cena em português brasileiro e inglês, e redimensionar o tamanho da minha pesquisa artística.

Dividi a cena com o incrível David J. Amado, que trouxe seu olhar preciso para o movement coaching e também assinou textos do espetáculo. A musica que costurou tudo isso foi criada pelo talentoso Diogo Melo.

Esse processo só existiu porque tivemos a generosidade e o brilho das mentoras Julie Berès e Lisa Guez, e acompanhamento de Simone Mousset, guiando nosso percurso, e porque a equipe técnica e artística do teatro criou um espaço verdadeiramente seguro para arriscar, errar e criar.

Gratidão enorme pela confiança, por tudo que ficou e por tudo que ainda está por vir. 🤎

crossing is not something you do alone

travessia was born here — in rehearsals, uncertainties and shared discoveries alongside Lucas França at TalentLAB 26, at the Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg. A multidisciplinary project that gave me the space to explore my own writing for the stage in both Brazilian Portuguese and English, and to expand the scale of my artistic research.

I shared the stage with the incredible David J. Amado, whose precise eye shaped the movement coaching and whose words also found their way into the piece. The music that wove it all together was created by the talented Diogo Melo.

None of this would have existed without the generosity and brilliance of mentors Julie Berès and Lisa Guez, and the accompaniment of Simone Mousset, guiding us throughout — and without the technical and artistic team of the theatre, who built a truly safe space for us to risk, fail, and create.

Immense gratitude for the trust, for everything that stayed and for everything still to come. 🤎
