okay i'll stop posting about this.... I guess... it was just so much fun and i'm very grateful. what a blast it was to be a tour guide for my childhood vacation spots - i haven't visited in eight years, and it was so special to revisit my favorite spots but to also uncover a few new favorites. thank you to kozie for coming along with me and also being down for a full schedule (and for capturing so much!) i love girlhood 🫶🏻 by @diaryofrhi

it wasn't my original plan to see billy idol and devo this year, but i'm so glad i did! a fun night out with my rockstar of a mom - i feel happiest when i can dress up and pay homage to previous decades (ran out of time to tease my hair but just know the thought was there!). and fellow fans of this gig were so nice - i don't think i've ever had to talk so many people down from thinking i was a part of the show before 😅 nope, this is just a weeknight in rhi's dress up land! shoutout to devo - these guys ROCK. they go so much harder live than i ever would have guessed, and i already went in loving them! shoutout to steve stevens - you are a guitar god, sir, and you definitely know it! you're on my hall of fame list for sure. and of course, mr. billy idol himself... probably one of the only blonde men who will ever get my seal of approval. seeing you perform the music i grew up on was surreal. your energy and showmanship have not faded a bit! it was an honor to transform into a rocker chick for you. it was a nice day for a... rock concert !

so so much fun! and with that, my august concert going has come to an end. there's a couple more on the books this year, as well as a few fun shenanigans, but after labor day weekend i might have to go into hibernation, so who knows how much i'll be posting like this. i'll be planning for some big plans in 2027 instead 👀 but for now, enjoy the 80s sleaze, and go put on some billy idol (and maybe a devo hat!)

the broken, the beaten, and the damned attended a mcr concert 🤟🏻🖤

anyone who has spoken to me the past year or so knows how much i was looking forward to this. here we are, not quite 24 hours later, and i'm obviously still reeling. i'm forced (by my own self) to adhere to a quick posting schedule, because i deleted almost everything in my photo gallery to record the amount that i did, and with another show to go to later this week, i need to make sure i can upload what i'd like now and give my poor phone storage a second to breathe. but i'm obviously not ready to move on. oh my god, what a show...

i'll try to say more when i absolutely spam my stories with footage, but oh my god. mcr have been a hit for a while now. they could perform nothing but covers, and fans would still go see them. but for them to not only continue touring but also give us a full rock opera, with an insane storyline and concept and set pieces, with the band going absolutely insane while playing these songs that they've had to have done thousands of times already with such enthusiasm... to say this was a hell of a show is an understatement. i'm still in shock from hearing songs i've known the words to for as long as i can remember. it was such an incredible experience to see them live on such a grand scale and to sing along with everyone. and to experience this with some of my favorite people? are you kidding?

this was a literal dream come true. i know i say that about everything, and I that I love live music, etc etc, but i'm serious. this was my first time seeing mcr after failing numerous times to attend one of their shows. hell, i love to say that the first dollar i ever earned was because of them - i was the emo kid in school drawing band logos. i could go on and on about this. it was a blast. i rocked out with my friends. and i'm so so grateful.

rest in peace to my sweet as pie grandaddy, who i watched transform from a grumpy old man to a kind one who the nurses always mistakenly called "sunny", not realizing the charts were referring to his first name, "sonny." i am really going to miss you, but my family and i have been grieving you for years, so it is a blessing in disguise to know you aren't hurting anymore. i was blessed to know that i was your favorite person, your one and only grandaughter. i'm going to miss sitting on your lap and watching tom and jerry, the only thing we could both understand because of your lack of hearing. i'm going to miss when you used to visit for christmas and would insist that i wasn't allowed to carry a single present into the house - my brothers had to do it. i'm going to miss you looking at me and exclaiming "what, do you think it's your birthday or something?" every time i acted excited. these past few years, your condition worsened, and we had to watch you stuck inside of your own mind, unable to say what you wanted. but you always lit up when i came to visit. you always crushed me in a hug and held my hand, not letting go. often, all you had left to say was "i love you."

and that's all there is left to say. i love you, grandaddy. i'm glad you aren't hurting anymore. give grandma e. a kiss for me. by @diaryofrhi
