“Hey Ale… what if we created a wedding inspired by La Lotería? What if every table took inspiration from one of the cards, creating a journey through this iconic Mexican game?”

And, as always, Ale said yes @diaunofloral and got just as excited as I did.

That’s how this beautiful wedding came to life, filled with handmade clay pieces, color, texture, and so many little details inspired by Mexico.

Working with clients who truly trust what we do is such a gift. It was beautiful to watch them fall in love with Mexico, embrace every detail, and enjoy their wedding so fully.

We’re going to miss them so much. 🤍

And to every single vendor who helped bring this celebration to life ,thank you for being so incredibly professional, talented, and passionate about what you do.

What a beautiful thing it is to love what we do.

There is something about Yucatán that deeply moves me. 🌿🐆

Walking into an old hacienda and placing my hand on its walls. Looking at the textures that time, rain, and roots have slowly transformed. Walking among those walls and imagining all the stories that once took place there.

And thinking about how Yucatán was shaped through the meeting of so many cultures: in its architecture, its crafts, its embroidery, its colours, its ways of living, and also in the plants that arrived from other places and found a new way of living here.

I like to think that flowers can tell that story too.🐒

For this wedding at Hacienda San Antonio Hool, in Mérida, we wanted to bring that feeling of the Yucatecan jungle into the space: wild foliage from the region, flowers that arrived from different parts of the world, and clay pieces made by artisan hands.

Not to compete with the hacienda, but to listen to it.

To let the flowers live alongside its walls, its textures, its vegetation, and everything that time had already written there.

Perhaps that is why I love working in Yucatán so much.

Because its history is not only seen.

It is touched.
It is breathed.
It is felt.

And sometimes, it blooms too. 🍃

FLOWERS ALSO HOLD STORIES 🍂

Some bouquets begin with a flower. Others begin much earlier with a place, with hands, with a tradition, and with a story that someone chose not to let disappear. 🌼

This bouquet was born thinking of Oaxaca: its colors, its textures, and those hands that, for generations, have turned earth into beauty.

We worked exclusively with Vanda orchids and natural textiles, hoping to bring some of that same artisanal sensibility into the bouquet.

And behind this idea is also the memory of Irma Blanco, creator of a technique using clay flowers that are embedded into clay vessels a way of creating that, to me, speaks of something that goes far beyond craftsmanship:

…it speaks of how a flower can become a memory.

And perhaps that is what I love most about working with flowers: they may last for a while, but they can hold a story forever.👰🏻‍♀️💐

… today, as autumn begins! 🍁

I want to tell you the story behind this wedding because, for me, it was very special. 🍂🌼👰🏻‍♀️

This bride decided to get married on November 2nd, Día de Muertos. And when she told me why she had chosen that date, I immediately understood that it wasn’t just any date.

In Mexico, we have this beautiful tradition of believing that, during these days, our loved ones who have passed away come back to visit us. That’s why we create altars with marigolds, candles, food, drinks, and all the things they loved when they were alive.

And this bride’s father was no longer with her.

So she chose to get married on that exact day because she wanted to feel that he would come back. That he would be there with her. That, in a way, he would be the one walking her down the aisle and giving her away.

And that completely changed the way I saw the flowers for this wedding.

Because the marigolds weren’t there just because they were beautiful. They were a way of bringing him back. Of making a place for him on that special day. Of saying, without words:

“Dad, you are here. This moment is yours too.”

And while I was designing the flowers, I thought a lot about that.

About how a flower can become a memory. How a scent can make us feel that someone is still close. How sometimes, flowers are the only way we have to make someone present when we can no longer hold them.

And maybe that’s why this wedding moved me so much.

Because that day, surrounded by flowers, candles, and memories, she didn’t walk down the aisle alone.

She walked with her father.

And even though he could no longer hold her hand…

the love he left behind in her still could. 🫀🍂

Never start writing stories without first letting your heart feel them 🌹🫀🥀

Hi, I’m Alex. I always look for the way the story wants to be told—through flowers and my own hands…

Always staying as true as possible to who I am and to the essence of the story…

Never letting the story feel distant or detached…

Love always has a rhythm; let the flowers make it visible…

How I feel today won’t be the same as how I’ll feel tomorrow; that’s why stories must be lived in the moment…

…I used to think I had to find extraordinary things, but experience taught me the importance of the present…

I will never hold these exact flowers in my hands again, because the version of me today won’t be the same tomorrow… Give me the chance to experience this more calmly, so that you and I can share these flowers today! 🥀

Thank you to all the hands that helped bring these flowers to this moment; WP @lupitatiradowp 🍃

MY 5 RULES TO DESIGN A WEDDING

What I’ve learned after years of creating celebrations where every detail has a purpose.
@diaunofloral
@efegepho
@rosewoodsanmiguel
@cyre.manteleria
@huproductionco

RULE #1

START WITH A STORY.

Before choosing colors, flowers or furniture, I ask:

What should this wedding feel like?

The design should reflect the couple, not simply follow a trend.

RULE #2

CREATE A STRONG VISUAL LANGUAGE.

Choose a palette, textures, materials and shapes that speak the same language.

When every element belongs together, the design feels intentional, never accidental.

RULE #3

PLAY WITH SCALE.

A memorable wedding needs moments that surprise you.

Oversized installations, intimate details and unexpected proportions create rhythm and make a space unforgettable.

RULE #4

CONTRAST IS EVERYTHING.

Light and dark.
Soft and structured.
Minimal and abundant.

Contrast creates tension, depth and emotion and keeps the eye moving.

RULE #5

DESIGN FOR THE EXPERIENCE.

A wedding isn’t a photoshoot.

Think about how your guests will enter, move, gather, dine, dance and remember the night.

The best design doesn’t just look beautiful.

It makes you feel something.

BEAUTIFUL IS NOT ENOUGH.

Every detail should have a reason.

Every space should tell a story.

And every celebration should feel unmistakably yours. taken in Rosewood San Miguel de Allende by @diaunofloral
