Just about finished with my portrait of Sue. However, I need to introduce her in a formal way. Portrait of Sue Reimondo, Ph. D., L.P.C.C. Director of Counseling Services, Berea College, retired. I am honored to have worked collaboratively with Sue on this first of what I hope to be a new series of Legacy Portraits of family and friends. I hope the future paintings will flow a bit faster. But as all of us know life gets in the way sometimes. Sue just dropped by and she wanted me to add, “she is looking good and still kicking ass”. #stillkickingass #oilportraits #contemporaryportraiture #art #portraits by @dickdougherty130b

Made a bunch of progress on my current portrait of my friend Sue. Just about done on her face etc. Will move on to her hair over the next couple of weeks. Hair is now just blocked in and it will require a bunch of days that drive me crazy. But may I will like painting hair this time. #oilportraits #contemporaryportraiture #art #artiststudio #femaleportraits by @dickdougherty130b

Well it is time to move on to Sue’s head. Just got done with most of Sue’s lower body, maybe a little fussing with her hand on the right of the painting and a little looking over the jewelry as I work on her face. Won’t be able to spend time on the import stuff until April. So stay tuned and I’ll post the finished portrait as soon as I finish. #art #oilportrait #contemporaryportraits #artstudios #legacyportraits by @dickdougherty130b

Sneaking my way around the top of the Sue’s blue shirt this past week. You can also see my working set up and my working process. Holiday things to do the next couple of weeks and hope to finish the blue shirt by mid January. #artstudio #fineart #artgallery #oilportraits #portraitsocietyofamerica #legacyportraiture by @dickdougherty130b

On the easel in the studio is a new portrait of a good friend Sue Reimondo. As you can tell it is a full torso portrait which I have wanted to do a bunch of for a while. We did the photo shoot in the early fall and I’ve been working it since early November. Slow going but progress nonetheless. Didn’t get to work every day because of openings and Thanksgiving, etc. #oilportrait #oilpainting #contempraryportraits #portraitsociety #contemporaryart #artgallery #womenportraits #art #artwork #artist #arts by @dickdougherty130b

It was a great night for the first Berea Art Crawl. We had over 75 people come to see the work Robin and I put up in our gallery. Robin had two newly completed pieces which you can see on either side of her in this photo. The tall one to the left is “Burning Down the House” which she banged together over the last 5 days and the other “Trajectories, Trials, Tribulations, and Triumph’s” which has been developing over the last few years. I had a new portrait in progress on my easel of a friend which I will show you progress as it develops over the next few weeks. #galleryopening #artcrawl #galleryhop #artist #artstudio #scupture #portrait by @dickdougherty130b

All 8 tentacles are now up on the wall in the gallery. Robin will be making some fine tuning additions and in a few weeks we will hang the headboard in our bedroom at home in Berea. Final installed images will follow. #art #artfuniture #artgallery #sculpture #fineart by @dickdougherty130b

Making a lot progress on the last piece for the head board. Tufting is getting a little easier, doing it on such an odd shape presents some challenges. #art #artstudio #sculpture #homedecoration #headboards #artgallery by @dickdougherty130b

The last tentacle, we have been calling them is a little more challenging with 27 tufting buttons with a grid work of silk tape crossing under each button. None of this either of us have ever done. I did start it yesterday and got 4 of the 27 done. I think it took us 3 hours to complete those 4. Ugh. I’ll post the first 4 progress tomorrow. #artstudio #artist #headboarddesign #sculpture #artistfurniture by @dickdougherty130b
