In 2003, China Mobile(中国移动) launched its <Color Ring> (彩铃) service. From then on, whenever people made a call, they would hear a piece of music carefully chosen by the other person while waiting for them to pick up. For just a few yuan of phone credit, people could pick a song from a constantly updated library, the one that best matched their mood or personality. In 2G-era China, ringback tones spread pop melodies further and faster than CDs or records ever could. These melodies from the turn of the millennium were the sounds that filled our youth. To this day, they glow softly somewhere inside us. Here are what we came across the most vivid Color Ring materials and curated a selection of our favorite finds to share with you.

Nanjing-born, Manchester-based electronic music producer Dirty K @dirtykkkk_tsuihonagi released his debut Taikebeat album <Xin Yi 信義> with @easternmargins back in March. As a deep participant and DJ in East Asia’s local underground electronic music scene, we caught up with him to chat about the history of Taike music and the story behind the creation of this album. This is a reinterpretation of a piece of history, as well as a vision to build a brand-new dancefloor scene. Sprouting from the wild and chaotic musical soil, the Taikebeat that germinated in the nightlife of Taipei‘s Xinyi District disrupts the boundaries between mainstream and marginal dance music with intense, violent vibrations. In 2026, musicians from Asia are also looking back, keeping this passion alive... #electronicmusıc #undergroundmusic #rave #asianculture #artistinterview by @dida.dida360

i like it when the places i go to kill time suddenly become part of my life in another way. thank you 💥@dida.dida360 for bringing 👾@8bit.gurl x @byyb.radio 🌱to 街机烈火🎮, one of the oldest arcades in shanghai.🌆 funny enough, i spent most of those weeks hanging around arcade rhythm game corners anyway — so somehow this set felt like everything in my life accidentally connecting itself. played a bunch of things i’ve actually been listening to / obsessed with lately. skrillex, aphex twin, crystal castles, deadmau5, goreshit, kero kero bonito, yeule, t+pazolite, subway surfers music… basically no concept other than things i genuinely wanted to hear very loud inside an arcade. 7\ @aphextwin.afx I love @tzusing_ and i think i enjoy everything a little more when my friends are around. maybe that’s enough of a storyline for me 🎮 #ArcadeCulture #RhythmGame #Breakcore #InternetMusic #DJSet taken in Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu by @dida.dida360

We designed this collection of slap bracelets for the 倫敦EYE愛 event. Inspired by 2010s Chinese internet subculture, we blend a childhood toy tucked away in our memories with the moody lyrics of iconic Chinese pop hits from that era. That ’snap‘ against your wrist carries the echoes of the past, letting tender melodies rest gently upon your forearm… ༘ᰔᩚ Produced by @dida.dida360 Graphic designed by @meitingduox2 Available soon, online & in-store. by @dida.dida360
