Book Recommendation alert! I found another series I won’t stop talking about ❤️ DIE by Just Villanueva caught my attention last year, and recently the timing was finally perfect. Despite my various preoccupations, I devoured this book in two days. I am after all, an avid dystopian consumer too. Entertainment value is 💯 and writing is definitely solid and satisfying. Justin shows vivid settings, stages gripping action scenes, and builds conflict through engaging dialogues, intriguing politics and layered backstories. All in this 150-page volume. That is impressive! And this is very Pinoy too (more on this next time).In this reel, I shared my thoughts on the worldbuilding, writing, characters, and plot. Allow me to highlight as well that aside from the badass female lead, I was also drawn to the supporting cast. Every single one of them. I would love to see their stories unfold in future volumes.Reading DIE is a total experience ❤️ You see things, hear things, feel things. I am really excited to have discovered another speculative writer to watch out for in Just Villanueva, and I would love to read more from him.I can yap on and on, but I wanted to post this now— just in time to prod you to add it to your to-buy list this MIBF. Deus Ex Manila (DXM) would like to thank everyone who joined our cozy and intimate Sci-Fi Sunday afternoon at the Stacks with Packing Sheets! We had a great time sharing our stories, influences, and upcoming projects, as well as asking the audience their favorite sci-fi titles! Many of them were also surprised Filipino Sci-Fi does exist, and that is what we are trying to bring to the readers: That there are more Pinoy stories out there than just romance, horror, or fantasy.
