I’ve been missing the Philippines and the mountains a lot lately. On my commute to work today, my mind wandered back to my time in Buscalan and the moments I shared with friends. Visiting Apo Whang-Od was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life, and it’s a memory I’ll always carry with me.

I hope I get to return soon and continue exploring the heart and soul of the Filipino culture.

I’m a little late, but it’s me and my kababayans month! Happy Filipino American History Month! 🇵🇭

Shoutout to all the pogis and bebots for all the love and support. ❤️‍🔥

This type of work is my life, and I honestly don’t know anything else but this. Tattooing is a lifestyle, and I try to remind myself every day that I still have a long road ahead of me. The grind doesn’t stop. I don’t do this for clout, and I’ll never take any of it for granted. I’m forever a student, and there’s always more for me to learn and improve on.

Being Filipino is something I carry with pride every single day. It’s in my art, my work, and the way I choose to live my life. I’m proud of where I come from, and I’ll continue to honor that through everything I create.

I don’t post myself much on here besides my tattoos, but these are some of the moments I got to experience in September.

I’m eternally grateful for all the memories I’ve been able to make because of tattooing. I’m living my 15 year old dream, and I’m just grateful for everything this journey has brought into my life.

Modern Filipino Tribal Tattoo 🇵🇭

Patterns inspired by the Higaonon communities of Northern and Central Mindanao.

I’m forever grateful that tattooing has given me the opportunity to share my work and be part of keeping Filipino tattoo traditions alive. I’ve always wanted to make my mark in the community and push myself to become the best artist I can be. I still have a lot to learn, but I’m proud of how much I’ve grown and excited to see where this journey takes me.

This is something I hear a lot from my clients and other Filipinos I meet 🇵🇭

“I wish my parents taught me the language.”

For a lot of us, there’s a story behind why that didn’t happen. Our parents and grandparents had their own experiences with immigration, assimilation, and trying to build a better life for the next generation.

Sometimes, without realizing it, parts of our culture didn’t get passed down with them.

But I think there’s something beautiful about choosing to reconnect now. Even if you’re starting from the beginning, it’s never too late to learn, ask questions, and get closer to where your family came from.

This topic means a lot to me because I know what it feels like to question your own connection to being Filipino. 🇵🇭

One thing I’ve learned through my own journey is that identity isn’t something you need to prove to other people. We all have different stories, especially those of us who grew up away from the Philippines.

I hope this post encourages someone to learn more, ask more questions, and feel comfortable exploring that part of themselves.
