I’m always curious as to what inspires a tennis parent? For Tanner Frey, the spark came straight from the pages of Andre Agassi’s bestselling memoir, Open.

Determined to shield his kids from the burnout and politics often found in traditional team sports, he charted his own path.

The result? Two Division One tennis players, proving that talent and dedication can rise from anywhere—even an unexpected tennis community like Utah.

After his basketball career at Fresno State, Larry Abney went on to play 12 years overseas and is now the G League Associate Head Coach & NBA Player Development for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Now rising through the coaching ranks, Abney was a big part of one of my favorite basketball teams of all time.

Late 90’s Fresno State under Jerry Tarkanian was PURE SHOWTIME 🎬🐾

“The Shark” built one of the most entertaining squads in college hoops history featuring Chris Herren, Rafer Alston, Tremaine Fowlkes, Melvin Ely, Terance Roberson, Courtney Alexander, and Larry Abney 🔥

Swagger. Streetball flair. NBA talent.
Fresno State was must-watch basketball every single night. 🏀💨

➡️ Swipe right to relive Fresno State of the 90s 🏀 ➡️
