With the anniversary of “the crash”, I thought back to the road to recovery and where I am today. How the competitive racers mindset helped me to quiet the voices of uncertainty and negativity as I worked myself back. There were those that tried to manage expectations with lines about getting back to a percentage of my old self. A percentage of my old self?? I was trying to go to the Olympics. I’m grateful for the resilience and resolve that sport has given me. Allowed me to build myself back stronger, and Wired me to always strive and try to prove the non believers wrong. While this chapter of my life was dark and scary, it shaped who I am today and has made me appreciate life and my loved ones.

What a beautiful day for our community! 💙🚣‍♀️
The @mysticchamber was truly honored to be part of such an important addition to our community: the Mystic River Boathouse, The Jim Dietz Rowing Center & Hart Perry Boathouse.
There’s something incredibly special about watching a vision become a reality, and even more meaningful seeing the outpouring of support, generosity, and community spirit that has gone into making this project possible. This is more than a boathouse. It’s an investment in our community, in the power of rowing, and in future generations who will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and create memories along the Mystic River including serving as the new home for @stoningtoncrew
From the visionaries and donors to the construction crews, volunteers, rowers, and community members who helped bring this dream to life, thank you for believing in what’s possible when we come together. ❤️

Greater Mystic Chamber President Bruce Flax was honored to emcee and celebrate alongside so many incredible community leaders including :

🚣 @stoningtoncommunityrowing
●Gill Perry-Millsom
●Lissa Perry-Gumprecht
●Mike O’Neill
●John Thornell
●Will Castle
●Jim Dietz.

🌊Former Rowers of Jim Dietz :
●Andrea Landry
●Caroline McGonagle, who shared a special surprise presentation of engraved crew oars with personalized Dietz quotes that will serve rowers for generations.

🏘️ @townofstonington
●Nick Kepple
●Rob Simmons
●Danielle Chesebrough.

🏛️ State Representatives:
● @senatorsomersct
● State Representative Aundre Bumgardner @aundre4ct

It’s been truly heartfelt to watch the community support pour into this project. What’s been built today will be enjoyed, cherished, and carried forward by generations to come.

When the Boyz are away… the Girls will play. And by play, I mean PRANK 😜🇫🇷

When filming wrapped for the afternoon in Annecy, France, we did what boys usually do: went looking for beer 🍺 and a good time 🎯.

Little did we know, while we were out, the girls were busy making plans of their own—plans that would determine exactly how our evening would end.

Arriving home to find ourselves locked out of the house with just one clue. 🔐🕵️‍♂️ Luckily, we’re a little smarter than we look.

Practice isn’t about perfection. It’s about improvement.
Improving on past marks. Getting stronger. Building your fitness while bettering yourself. In Hydrow’s Improve Your 2K series, we do just that. We practice to improve.
Improve strength. Endurance. Resilience. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s becoming better than you were yesterday.

(Nature 💪vs. Nurture🌱) When I first started sculling, Jim refused to let me watch videos of him rowing. He didn’t want me emulating his style or technique.

Would appear some things are wired into your DNA. 🧬

The early arm break. The head prying. Opening with the back early in an attempt to throw every ounce of aggression into the stroke.

I tried like hell to change. Lord knows my coaches tried daily to break me of these habits.

Even as my stroke evolved you could still tell…

I am my father’s son. ❤️🇺🇸 Happy Fathers Day Big Guy
