books for kids the world hasn’t figured out how to hold yet. wired differently. loved completely. three books out now ⬇️

POSTS STORIES REELS

this is the only page in the
book shot from directly above.

he left a party full of people and walked out to a
field, and he is lying in it doing absolutely nothing on purpose.

i wanted the camera to move when he did. the reader should feel the quiet before they read a word of it.

you do not need a diagnosis to start one of these.

diagnosed, undiagnosed, or somewhere in the middle of finding out -- start wherever you are.

bring it to a meeting, keep it when they're grown

there's a line in asher's book where his brother says something offhand about a room full of people:

like for a second -- nobody is alone.

asher has spent the whole story watching connection happen to other people. that sentence is the moment
it stops being a thing that happens to other people.

some children have to bcome their own best friend before they can be anyone else's.

that turns out to be the order it has to happen in.

asher ends this book exatly as observant and deep-feeling as he began.

nothing about him gets corrected. he doesn't become more outgoing or learn to be easier to be around.

he just works out what to do with what he
already sees.

that's the promise across every book i write. the
child is never the thing that needs changing.

these two live in the same
house and the same series.

eden moves through the world fast and out loud.
asher moves through it slowly and almost silently.

neither one is the correct way to be a child.

both books are out now.

asher's turning point isn't something he figures out alone.

he asks his brother a question out loud—his first ever—and jonah answers without making it a lesson.

that's the whole mechanism in these books. nobody fixes anybody. they just answer honestly and stay in the room.

siblings do more of this than anyone gives
them credit for.

four volumes. birth through the last handover.

the same sentence, four times, changing as your child does — until the book changes hands. that was always the point.

you kept the record until they could keep it.

half of each of these books belongs to your child.

not a section at the back. half.

they write how their brain works, what helps them, what they got better at, and one page nobody else gets to see.

you started out explaining your child to other people. this is where they start doing it themselves.

four books. birth through the
last handover.

one side is yours — evaluations, services, meetings, and the page nobody else prints: what actually worked.

the other side is your child's. what they said before they had words. how their brain works. what helps.

by the last volume, they're the one holding the pen.

that was always the point.

somewhere in your house
there's a folder.

evaluations, reports, meeting notes, a form
somebody needed twice. it's disorganized because it accumulated rather than got built.

and none of it holds the thing you'll actually want
later — what your kid was like. what they said. what worked.

i made something for that.

there's a difference between a child who doesn't want to join in and a child who doesn't know how to.

they look identical from across a room.
