I'm Alicia. I own DiFi Advisory (because Divergent Financial Advisory Services LLC is a mouthful- so we make it short and cute, like me).

It is a fully independent Registered Investment Adviser, which is a fancy way of saying NO EFFIN PARENT COMPANY to tell me what it wants me to do or what to push. I'm also a fiduciary by law, so a lot of people seem to really like that.

I'm not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm not the most expensive. 🤷‍♀️ I have 20 years worth of financial industry experience (including lending of all types biz and personal) to back me up and almost 15 years as a licensed investment person. I'm gonna be 38 next month, so I'll let you do the math on that one.

I generally work with women business owners that are some type of service provider like dentists, nurse practitioners, coaches of various types, people really good at creating courses or templates, mental health therapists, massage therapists, etc., etc., etc., that have 25 or fewer employees with most at 5 or less and a good chunk of solo practioners like me. I have clients across the US.

If you're going through a shitty time like divorce, I happen to specialize in pre-, active, and post-divorce planning because let's be honest, that messes things up BIG TIME and women, especially biz owners, are often at a disadvantage due to not knowing really important stuff that absolutely no one would without specializing.

If that's not enough to endear you to me, just wait til you find out I am anticapitalist AF. Anticapitalist does NOT mean anti-money! But often times it does mean anti- stepping on the backs of others to be a Musk or Bezos and understanding how the systems are against you if you don't meet certain criteria.

Posted this on the personal IG and then thought, why not here, too?

It was so much fun to show up authentically on stage and be my silly self while educating a group of 70+ women on how to "Invest Like a Woman: Smart, Simple, Strategic" at the @ocw_salem Financial Wellness workshop.

Can you believe they actually let me on stage? 😜

All jokes aside, I hope each attendee felt empowered AF and took away something actionable and implementable that they can use to reach their financial goals!

Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day!

I was in Arizona last week and got to spend some time in my favorite city, Tucson. One of the reasons Tucson is my favorite is because it is absolutely *DRIPPING* with local art in every corner. I am in love with the influence the Sonoran Desert has had on much of the art there as well. It has significant historical and present day influence. It inspires creativity.

If you have been paying attention to my random and haphazard postings in an effort to satisfy the social algos, you may have noticed that I am an absolute sucker for a good art museum and this trip I was able to check out the @tucsonmuseumofart which has the poignant, beautiful display created by @arriolajulia that you see here.

Before even reading the information (attached for your convenience if you're interested in learning more) I knew what it was and why it was made. It is a mother with her daughters in honor of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

Art can make you feel a lot of ways, which is one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. Sometimes though, it can feel like a sucker punch right in the gut and that is exactly how I felt when I found myself standing across this piece. You could feel the emptiness from the lives lost.

Indigenous people, especially women and girls, have been subjected to an immense amount of violence, historically and still today. According to the placard, MMIWG have a murder rate that is 10x higher than the national average. This is alarming and worrisome.

Therefore today I honor the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and I respond to the artist: I give a damn. I see that she lived. I will honor her.

Thanks to the Opening the Doors to Education Gala by @skcequalityorg I was finally able to try @cafechula and HOLY SHIT guys, that coffee is bomb AF. (If you have seen my stories, you know I been dying to check it out).

Shout out to @yirlarubi for inviting me to join her table. As always, she was an amazing emcee!

There was also the most gorgeous dessert table for the Dessert Dash - I WILL get their info and share the gorgeous and delicious pistachio cake that @incognita.insta @parrawineco and @beonit82 and I won.

It was also a pleasure to run into Delia, the Executive Director for @willametteacademy which is a college access program for our local school district that I have served on the Advisory Council of since (I think) 2019.

Much like Salem Keizer Coalition for Equality, Willamette Academy values equity in our education, ensuring ALL children have access to quality education.

Financial freedom is being able to drop over $3k in less than 2 months when your senior dog gets very sick and also being able to reschedule meetings last minute and restructuring everything during his final 2 weeks of life.

Sunday, I had to make the very difficult decision to let my stinky old man cross the rainbow bridge. In that moment, I was not worrying about upsetting my clients or the things I had let go by the wayside, relegated to the "later" pile. I was not worrying about my business or the intro meeting I had scheduled Monday.

Instead, as I was there with my old boy in his final moments, I realized I didn't feel any sort of regret.

I didn't feel like I hadn't given him enough attention. I didn't feel like he wasn't properly cared for. Instead, I did everything I needed to to feel like I had done right by him. Something I didn't get to experience with my first dog, where all the guilt of being forced to work a '9 to 5' weighed on me. The inability to take time off work to properly care for him, weighed on me. All the missed cues of his "sudden" illness, weighed on me.

I knew I didn't want to feel like that again, so I began to seek a life where I feel like I have more of a say in how it goes and when I decided to set up shop on my own a big motivator for me was complete autonomy of my schedule and the ability to fit WORK around LIFE as I saw fit.

So while I mourn the loss of my MoMo mans, I am thankful that through him I was able to go full circle and give him the best care, opportunities, and time that I had.

I am thankful that I work with the type of clients who are happy to help when life life's by extending me the same flexibility and grace I offer them.

Before @difiadvisory spends a dollar on marketing, she asks:
👉 What’s the goal? 👉 How will I measure it? 👉 What would success actually look like?

Because sometimes the ROI isn’t immediate revenue.

Sometimes it’s trust. Sometimes it’s relationships. Sometimes it’s planting seeds that pay off years later.

The key is knowing what you’re actually trying to achieve before you spend.
