The Living Part

A look back at the opening of The Living Part, now on view at The Living Room Gallery.

Bringing together the work of Buenos Aires-based textile artist Ruth Lastra and Miami ceramic artist Pilar Fernández Lerda, The Living Part reflects on the importance of rest, reconnection, and our relationship with the natural world. Through dreamlike textile compositions and sculptural ceramic forms, the exhibition imagines spaces where the feminine can pause, heal, and return to itself. Together, the artists explore the body not as something to master, but as something to care for—drawing connections between architecture, nature, memory, and the quiet systems that sustain life.

Curated by Bella Almeida with assistance from Antonio Urrutia, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider what it means to truly live in a world that often leaves little room for rest. Rather than treating stillness as idleness, The Living Part presents it as an essential act of care, encouraging us to reclaim time for play, reflection, and reconnection with ourselves and the environments that shape us.
