Happy Hobbit Day! Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy is my favorite set of films of all time - extended editions o’course! Tonight I got to see Toy Story 5 and celebrate the work of my cousin Tony Maki.

As I watched the film, I found myself thinking about my great-grandmother Martha Maki. Her art inspired generations of our family.

A look at one of the EVIL SMARF DADDIES I’ve designed and brought to life for *TURMOIL IN THE TOYBOX* - Started with pencil and paper then I hopped on to my iPad for the sculpt. That goes to Blender where I finish up and prepare it for paint! In Substance I paint the heck out of it and send those textures back to Blender for lookdev. With the shaders dialed in I build out the skeleton and rig the character for animation. A lot of weight painting, constraints, and custom blendshapes later…he’s ready to animate! And then comes the shot layout, camera and light matching, etc…and eventually the composite into the final glorious shot! Rinse and repeat! by @digighoulworkshop
