Excited to share a first look at Strata (2025), Digital Ambiance’s latest permanent installation in collaboration with artist Adrian Yu @offlineprojects at the new Mesa City Hall @cityofmesa

A deep time capsule, Strata transforms Mesa’s Climate Action Plan into a living, spatial cinematic sculpture, where real-time environmental data shapes evolving site-specific video art. Inspired by the geological time spiral and elemental erosion of desert landforms, three twisting archways emanate with visuals affected by wind speeds, water encatchment, tree planting, weather and cl1mat3. From an oasis by day sunsetting into a particle cloud at night, Strata echoes the rhythm of planetary time and resonance.

More than a sculpture, the piece is a civic interface—celebrating Mesa’s sustainability efforts while keeping cl1mat3 action visible and tangible to constituents at city hall. As the city prepares for climate change, Strata will keep flourishing, a reflection of our shared impact and future.

We’re excited to present our first snapshots of this large-scale interactive installation “Fenton Wall” in a beautiful mixed-use development, in collaboration with artist @ansenseale for the client @hines. Washing the space with brilliant colors and adding an element of visitor engagement, “Fenton Wall” is a glimpse into the future of multi-media architectural placemaking.

A new work from @digital.ambiance Holographic exhibition by artist @jzlabs, “Portal” is an ever-expanding gradient light field that invites the viewer to experience it from various perspectives. Playing with perception, sheets of white hues from afar are comprised of thousands of colors, akin to a pointillist painting.

Built into these arches are 24 LED strips, 12 mini projectors, 12 speakers and 3 Ouster LiDAR sensors, all feeding one real-time tracking system. The tracking drives LED content in @touchdesigner, 3D spatial audio in Spatial Studio that follows you as you walk, and floor projections in @unrealengine, where the fish use game-like mechanics to react to your movements. @modulopi handles the projection mapping

This is the most complex system I’ve worked on as a creative technologist, and it was really satisfying to see it all come together

Introducing the final designs of the Golden Lantern and the Field of Globes, a new landmark for Powell Street in San Francisco.
Almost two years in the making. Getting here took countless hours of design, engineering, and endless revisions. We couldn’t be more proud of our partners and our team, and of the SF Bay Area that has shaped our studio for 15 years.
This is the work we live for: breathing new life into historic city centers.
Thank you to San Francisco Public Works, the City of San Francisco, and the visionaries @fieldoperations and our partners @uapcompany for bringing us along.

The Handoff Solution: Building a Permanent Architectural Framework on TouchDesigner

New in the Showcase: we love sharing tools built on the TouchDesigner engine, ones that make real-world deployments easier to build, hand off, and maintain.

Digital Ambiance’s Lightpath is a web-based platform that wraps TouchDesigner with everything a permanent install needs: handoff, operation, scheduling, monitoring, and long-term evolution. After a decade designing architectural lighting that runs continuously and is managed by facility teams who’ve never used node-based tools, Lightpath was born to solve the handoff problem.

We spoke with Lightpath’s Kyle Meredith and Javier Martinez about why TouchDesigner is the engine, and what it takes to design for permanence at scale.

We’re excited to present The Lagunitas Experience! A permanent immersive installation we designed, engineered, and produced.

Set on a private Northern California property, the space unfolds as a narrative loosely based on a young girl’s journey from her homeland. Visitors move through an archway, a treehouse, a rope bridge, and a crystal ball as light, sound, and video respond to their presence.

Built with projection mapping, spatial audio, real-time LiDAR, Unreal Engine, and @touchdesigner , and managed end to end on our Lightpath platform.

Swipe through to see Lightpath in the wild.

These are permanent architectural features powered, monitored, and managed seamlessly from a single web interface.

Legacy lighting tools were designed for temporary stages with a technician standing three feet away. Lightpath was built for the built environment, where reliability, remote oversight, and uncompromised creative freedom have to coexist 24/7.

No hardware lock-ins. No patchwork tools. Just beautiful complexity, simplified.

One interface. Every installation.

Four roles. One Platform.

Lightpath was designed around four distinct users, each of whom touches the same installation in a different way.

It brings together content management, real-time generative visuals, fleet-wide monitoring, and intuitive scheduling into a single interface accessible from a browser, a phone or any other internet connected device.
