You know what I’ve discovered I really love doing?
Creating videos for brands and promoting digital products.
And as a woman in my 60s, I’m finding there are SO many opportunities in this space.
You don’t have to be 25. You don’t have to be an influencer. And you definitely don’t have to have it all figured out.

Today is DAY 21 OF 21
If Day 1 Debbie could see me today,
I think she’d be pretty surprised.
Because honestly… I struggled.
Here’s my top 5 surprises!
1. I wasn’t as techie as I thought
I didn’t know Discord. I didn’t know how to create a carousel. I was learning CapCut. I was trying to figure out storytelling.
And more than once, I wondered if I could actually make it through 21 days.
2. But I kept showing up.
Not perfectly.
Real life was still happening.
I was starting my YouTube channel,
volunteering in my town,
promoting an upcoming event,
going to my grandson’s football games, making meals…
and trying to fit this challenge into all of it.
And somewhere along the way, something changed.
3. I found my voice.
I found my purpose.
And I realized I don’t have to pretend to be an expert.
I just need to own my experience and share what I’ve learned.
That’s why I did this challenge.
Not just to complete 21 days…
4I finished it! But to prove to myself that I could start something…
and actually finish it.
And if Day 1 Debbie could see me now?
I think she’d say…
“Keep going, girl. Im 68 years old and im just getting started
5. You’re just getting started.”

WISH I KNEW THIS ON
DAY 1 of the 21 DAY CHALLENGE!
Thought it was storytelling.
Never heard of Discord.
Wondered about Canva.
Didn’t know CapCut.
Still seeking accountability.
DAYS 2–5
Learned Discord training.
Discovered CapCut editing.
Posted Instagram links.
Partner quit Day 2.
Kept showing up.
DAYS 6–15
Posted every day.
Found fellow challengers.
Started liking and commenting.
Mastered CapCut.
Kept learning.
DAYS 16–20

Created my first carousel.
Learned Discord engagement.
Made time to connect.
Loved CapCut editing.
Discovered faster playback.
ALMOST DAY 21
I’ve done challenges before.
Three days.
Five days.
Then I quit.
But this time...
I stayed.
Every. Single. Day.
I learned new tech.
I discovered Canva.
I discovered creating.
I discovered storytelling.
I discovered connection.
And I discovered something else...
I’M CAPABLE OF MORE THAN I THOUGHT.
DAY 20 ME WOULD TELL DAY 1 ME...
KEEP GOING.

What Finally Worked to Get My Grandson Off His Screens

I thought I needed to get my grandson OFF his screens.
It started around age 7.
Phone. TV. Gaming.
And at 13, the screens were still winning.
SLIDE 2 | PURSUIT
So I tried to pull him away.
“Come on, let’s go for a walk.”
“Let’s ride bikes.”
But he resisted.
Because in his mind...
I was taking him away from what he loved.
SLIDE 3 | PURSUIT
So I tried something different.
Instead of telling him to put the game down...
I sat down beside him.
I asked him to teach me how to play.
SLIDE 4 | PURSUIT
Then something changed.
We weren’t fighting over the screen anymore.
We were spending time together.
And I realized...
Maybe I didn’t need to take him out of his world.
Maybe I needed to enter it.
SLIDE 5 | PURSUIT
So we started creating together.
We built a website to sell T-shirts.
I showed him how to create YouTube videos.
And suddenly...
The screen wasn’t keeping us apart.
It was bringing us together.
SLIDE 6 | RESOLUTION
I finally understood...
Connection came before correction.
I stopped fighting what he loved.
And started finding ways to turn it into something we could share.
That’s when he started listening.
SLIDE 7 | THE PAYOFF
My grandson is 13 now.
And I know I can’t protect him from every screen, every influence, or every challenge.
But I can give him something far more important...
MEMORIES WITH HIS GRANDMA.
And maybe someday, when he looks back...
He won’t remember the walks I tried to make him take.
He’ll remember that Grandma sat beside him and entered his world.
