i’m a teacher and i get 3 months off in the summer and everyone assumes i’m just relaxing 😭

Apart of me was supposed to be

but i also knew that going back to that classroom in september

doing the exact same thing for the exact same paycheck wasn’t going to cut it anymore

so i spent my summer break building something on my phone instead

i started this thinking i’d maybe make enough for school supplies 😭

because followers and buyers are two very different things 😭👇

October has been taking my followers one by one lol

started the month at 3,098 sitting at 3,070 now 😂

and a year ago that would’ve wrecked me

I would’ve refreshed my count every hour convinced myself something was wrong
 probably said out loud I suck at this and delete this whole business 😂

but a year of building this digital marketing business has taught me something I wish I’d understood sooner

a drop in followers doesn’t erase the progress you’ve already made

the same week I lost all these followers, I made my 52nd s@ le ! 🎉

built while navigating grief, slow months, and plenty of days when I wondered if any of this was actually going to be worth it

i needed to learn how to create content that connected with people, build trust, and give them a reason to take the next step

that’s what I’m paying attention to now

if I let every dip in my numbers decide whether I keep going, I’ll never give myself the chance to see what this business can become

so yeeeesssss October can keep a few followers lolol

I have a business to build

i bought course after course trying to figure out why i wasn’t making anything 👇🏼

every single time i thought.. okay THIS one is going to be the thing that finally will help me

implemented it
checked my dashboard

so i bought another one 💀

i was sitting in my notes app at 10pm..

after the boys were in bed, after a full day of teaching..
writing down every tip from every course like that was somehow going to make me money

pages of notes

zero sales

i was the most educated broke digital marketer on the planet and i didn’t even realize it 😭

Another course wasn’t going to fix what I was actually missing

once I stopped buying and started doing?

why October is really trying me already😂👇🏼

I started this month at 3,098 followers

now I’m at 3,080

EIGHTEEN people said, you know what… I’m good 😭😂

annddd old me would’ve taken that personally

refreshing my follower count like it was going to apologize and give me those people back

then wondering what I posted wrong OR I needed to change something in my account..

butt I have two toddlers, a full time teaching job, and an actual business to run

and I’m over here letting 18 unfollows ruin my mood? Be so for real, Steph 🫠

but then a digital product s@ le came through

52 s@ les now 🎉

I spent so much time worrying about how many people were following me

that I almost forgot to pay attention to what was actually happening in my business

people can unfollow
your numbers can dip
a post can get less views than you expected

none of that automatically means your business is failing

I would’ve let those 18 unfollows ruin my entire week a year ago

and today, I’m still building, still learning, and celebrating number 52 😂

I didn’t start this business to collect followers like Pokémon

and I’m learning to pay attention to the numbers that actually help me make better decisions

I did it for 5 months before I figured out why 😓👇

I was posting every day

showing up when I was tired

following all the free advice I could get my hands on

checking my content, constantly tweaking things, trying to figure out what I was doing wrong

anndnd my dashboard?

still sitting at ZERO

for FIVE. WHOLE. MONTHS. 🫠

the frustrating part was that I truly believed I was doing everything right…

i figured if i kept showing up, eventually something had to happen?!

so I kept posting… hoping the next piece of content would finally be the one

but looking back now, at 51 digital product s@ les and four figs

i was so focused on putting content OUT that I wasn’t paying attention to what my content was actually doing.

and that was the piece I was missing

It wasn’t about making my hooks a little cuter, writing longer captions or finding another posting schedule to follow

there is something my content needed to do before someone would ever feel interested enough to comment a keyword, send me a DM, or consider buying from me

this time last year I had zero s@les and a reason to quit 👇🏼

bruh.. I was sitting in the middle of the worst month of my life

my dad had just passed
I had just started this online business
and I had absolutely NO flippin IDEA how I was going to keep going with any of it

so I didn’t
well not really
not for 5 months.. lol

I’d post for a few days
disappear
come back
disappear again lmfaoo

watching everyone else figure out digital marketing while I was still trying to figure out how to get through the day

and this week I opened my phone and saw 51 digital product sales
3,098 followers
4 FIGS
an account that exists because I kept coming back even when I had every reason not to

and I just sat there for a minute

the version of me from October last year would not believe this is the same Steph!!

or the same life that felt completely impossible to navigate

those s@les didn’t just happen

they happened in spite of grief..
in spite of every month I convinced myself that I suck
and how I wasn’t cut out for this 😂😂

who I was this time last year looks nothing like this 👇🏼

my dad passed away from stomach cancer the same week I launched my digital marketing account..

and for that first five months?

I could barely showed up..

I’d post for a few days
disappear for two weeks
come back
disappear again 😓

all while convincing myself I was already too far behind in this business..

but grief don’t care about your content schedule

some days, showing up online was the last thing on my mind!

but somehoowww, I kept coming back

I miss my dad everyday and WISH I could have done more to help him..

but I also refused to let the hardest year of my life also be the year I gave up on myself… my dad didn’t raise no quitter!

I followed every content schedule I could find and stayed at $0 👇🏼

I had the content calendar.

and everyday was planned out
even showing up everyday like a clock

but my dashboard sat at $0 for FIVE months

so, I assumed I needed a better schedule

found one

Still $0 🫩

okkkkay… maybe I wasn’t posting enough

sooo I posted more..

Still $0..

Cool. Love that for me. 😂

then I blamed my hooks..

rewrote, tweaked them and tried different ones

STILL ZERO DOLLARS

and THAT was the part that drove me NUTS

I was doing everything I was told to do

but the thing I was actually missing?

it had nothing to do with my content calendar

it wasn’t something I could fix by posting more or something I learned in the first two courses I bought

it was the piece underneath the content

once I finally understood that…

and for a second, it did!

thennn things got quiet

I had a content schedule

used to post every single day even when I didn’t feel like it

and my dashboard?

the most FRUSTRATING part was that I genuinely thought I was doing everything right

I had the schedule, consistent and I was putting in the effort..

sooooo WHY wasn’t I getting any digital products s@les??

here’s what I understand now after 50 digital product s@les:

✨you can follow a content schedule perfectly..
✨post at the same time every day..
✨have a strong hook and a SEO filled caption..

and still make $0 😮‍💨

getting someone to read your content is only part of the job

they also need to feel understood by the time they reach to the end of your caption

Not just informed or impressed

for those five months, my content was missing the part that made someone pause and think, she gets what I’m going through.

because here’s what’s been happening 😩👇

the plan was to show up every day and make 💸 fast!

what actually happened instead was I lost my dad a week after I started..
