I thought I was making an Afrofuturist revenge story. 🖤😏✊🏾

Then I realised I was processing something very real.

The newly published Register of British Slave Traders represents years of archival work tracing the people and networks that financed Britain’s transatlantic slave trade.

Reading about it stayed with me.

Apparently my brain responded by inventing Abeni Vale, a Black British time traveller with a magical khopesh and approximately zero patience for arguments about preserving the time-space continuum. 😏🖤💅🏿✨

“ENOUGH OF THAT SHIT.”

The violence is fantasy. The archival history underneath this story matters deeply.

Diara & Goro are heading underground again, this time into the hidden Black lives of eighteenth-century London. 🖤✨ From Lucy Johnson and the streets of Chick Lane, to Ann Duck’s Black Boy Alley, the women whose names the archive did not preserve, and the extraordinary world of Charles Ignatius Sancho, they’re following court records, parish registers, letters, rumours and missing voices through a London that was far more diverse, connected and complicated than we’re usually shown. Some moments are documented, some carefully reconstructed, and some given a little Ancestor Code mischief. History didn’t disappear. Sometimes it was simply misfiled.
