When your 3-year-old is OBSESSED with Cars, you have to do this 🏎️

He genuinely thought he was seeing the REAL Lightning McQueen… and his reaction was everything 😂 Never thought I’d see this boy being lost for words 🤣

The queue tested his patience 😭 but once he got to the front, he was in his element.

Safe to say, the goodie bag was the only thing that convinced him it was time to leave 😂

Would your little Cars fan believe this was the real Lightning McQueen? 👀

He’s going to be talking about this one for a LONG time ❤️

Definitely one for the memory box 🥹

30 Days of Summer Activities ☀️ Day 26

Today’s activity with my toddler: my printable worksheet + poly pocket + oil + coloured water + tissue + chopstick 🫐🍊🍓🥝

This one looks so simple, but your little one is going to love watching the little coloured “drops” fall, then using the chopstick to guide each one into the matching fruit cup 🥹

A fun little activity — and you can set it up in just a few minutes!

Here’s how 👇🏼

🍓 Pop the printable inside a clear poly pocket.
🍓 Place a piece of tissue over each of the cups on the sheet.
🍓 Spread some oil over the poly pocket using a tissue.
🍓 Mix food colouring with water to make your coloured drops.
🍓 Add the drops onto the sheet and let your little one use a chopstick to guide each colour into its matching cup!

I’ve left lots of white space on each sheet so you can leave bigger gaps for little ones, or add lots more dots to make it trickier for older children.

It gets kids practising fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and control — all while learning through play 🙌🏼

And the best part? You can wipe it clean, reuse the poly pocket and set it up again and again!

When I first wanted to try this type of activity, I had to make all of the sheets from scratch… so I am sharing them with other mamas who want to try it too 🤎

30 Days of Summer Activities ☀️ Day 25

I needed to make lunch… so I set up THIS 👀🧩

Today’s activity with my toddler: large paper + magnetic tiles + colouring pens 🟦🖍️🟧

Here’s how ⤵️

• Stick a large sheet of paper to the fridge — I used the back of some wrapping paper 🙌🏼
• Draw around different magnetic tile shapes
• Use the matching colour for each one
• Let your toddler match the tiles to their outlines

And then something I didn’t even expect happened…

He started drawing around the shapes himself on another sheet! 🥹

30 Days of Summer Activities ☀️ Day 24

Today’s activity with my toddler: lolly sticks + stickers + tape 🧩🍌

Here’s how ⤵️
• Tape the lolly sticks together on one side, all the way down.
• Stick the stickers on, making sure they overlap at least two lolly sticks.
• I taped over my stickers so my toddler wouldn’t pull them off and run wild sticking them everywhere 😭 (totally optional!)
• Carefully slice down between each lolly stick to separate them, making sure not to rip the stickers.

Your little one can then match the pictures back together to complete each puzzle. 🧩

The best part? You can RE-USE this activity or switch the stickers whenever you like to create a whole new set of puzzles 🤎

30 Days of Summer Activities ☀️ Day 23

Today’s activity with my toddler: paper fish (card works best) + washing liquid + tray of water + marker (optional)🐟💦

Here’s how ⤵️

• Draw and cut out a simple fish
• Fill a shallow tray with water
• Dip just the very tip of the fish’s tail into washing liquid
• Gently place the fish onto the water and watch what happens!

And there’s a little bit of science happening here too 👀 The soap changes the surface tension of the water around the tail, which makes the fish move forwards.

You could also let your child experiment with different fish shapes and sizes and see what happens.

30 Days of Summer Activities ☀️ Day 22

Today’s activity with my toddler: salt + cling film + a bowl + your voice 🧂🗣️

I’m going to start homeschooling my son very soon. I’ve been planning out his timetable and our “Nursery” year, so I’m looking for simple activities that can be fun but educational.

This one is a great example because you can adapt what you talk about depending on your child’s age.

Here’s how ⤵️

🗣️ Cover a bowl tightly with cling film and secure it with a rubber band
🗣️ Sprinkle some table salt over the top
🗣️ Shout loudly next to the bowl and watch the salt move
🗣️ Then try speaking more softly and calmly and observe the difference

For older children, this is a simple way to introduce sound, vibrations and how sound can cause movement.

For younger children, you can use it as a conversation starter about voices, emotions and how the way we speak can affect other people.

We can talk about how shouting or using a harsh voice might make someone feel upset, worried or overwhelmed, while speaking calmly and gently can help someone feel more settled.

The experiment gives children something they can actually see moving as a result of sound, making it easier to understand that sound can create vibrations and movement. 🧂

30 Days of Summer Activities ☀️ Day 21

Today’s activity: paper + coloured pens + black pen + a clear bag + water💧

This easy activity is pretty cool… but there’s actually science behind it! 👀

Here’s how ⤵️

• Draw and colour in a rainbow/drawing on paper.
• Slide the paper into a clear zip-lock bag and trace the outline of your drawing on the outside of your bag.
• Slowly lower the bag into a deep glass or bowl of water.
• Watch closely… one rainbow disappears and the other appears!

It’s an optical illusion caused by the way light bends as it moves through the water. 🤯

30 Days of Summer Activities ☀️ Day 20

This takes minutes to set up… then the rainbow does the rest 🌈💧

Today’s activity with my toddler: kitchen tissue + washable markers + water + 2 glasses!

Here’s how ⤵️

🌈 Cut a piece of kitchen tissue into a thinner strip and colour both ends with washable markers to create a rainbow.

🌈 Make sure the colours line up opposite each other.

🌈 Place each end into a glass of water… and wait 👀

The water slowly travels through the tissue, carrying the colours with it until they meet in the middle.

And if you want to add a little science to it, you’ve just demonstrated capillary action!

Would your child sit and watch the colours meet? 👀

30 Days of Summer Activities ☀️ Day 19

Today’s activity: rubber bands + water + chopsticks + stand to collect bands 🎣💧

A super simple activity using a few things you probably already have at home! This is great for fine motor skills and concentration.

Here’s how ⤵️

🎣 Fill a container with water. You can make it more challenging by using rubber bands that are the same colour as the water.

🎣 Add the rubber bands to the water.

🎣 Give your child a chopstick or skewer and challenge them to hook the rubber bands and fish them out.

🎣 You can also use something like playdough to hold another chopstick in place, so they can transfer the rubber bands onto it for an extra challenge.

30 Days of Summer Activities ☀️ Day 18

Today’s activity with my toddler: toothpicks + water 💧⭐️

Such a simple little experiment, but you might have to try it a few times to get the perfect star! It was still fun making different kinds of stars too!

Here’s how ⤵️

⭐️ Bend 5 wooden toothpicks in the middle (without snapping them completely).

⭐️ Arrange them in a circle with the bent points nearly touching.

⭐️ Add a few drops of water to the centre and watch what happens 👀

⭐️ As the dry sticks absorb the water, the fibres expand and the toothpicks slowly straighten — pushing against each other and opening up into a star!

We loved watching this one happen, and it’s such an easy way to introduce a little STEM into play.

Today’s activity with my toddler: my printable worksheet + poly pocket + oil + yellow coloured water + tissue + chopstick 🍯💛

This one looks so simple, but your little one is going to love watching the little “honey” drops fall, then using the chopstick to drag them into the honey jar 🥹

A fun little summer activity — and you can set it up in just a few minutes!

Here’s how 👇🏼

🍯 Pop the printable inside a clear poly pocket.
🍯 Place a piece of tissue over the honey jar on the sheet.
🍯 Spread some oil over the poly pocket using a tissue.
🍯 Mix yellow food colouring with water to make your “honey”.
🍯 Add the yellow drops onto the sheet and let your little one use a chopstick to guide each drop into the honey jar! 💛
