The DIG THE GIG Dunedin 2026 Grand Finale last Thursday night was a complete stunner! Right from the get go we all knew it was going to be special. Thanks to our DTG House Band JR Williams for one hell of a slick performance! Huge thanks to DTG Dunedin 2025 Winners One Day for an electrifying guest set - that was insane! @parallel_player drew first blood and were outstanding - they looked great, sounded great and we loved every bit of their set. Awesome! @kenopsia_band.s didn’t have the purpose and power they delivered in their heat, but all in all they came out swinging. Ones to watch - these cats are talented. @liquidlucyland eased into a Pink Floyd cover and went about their business, pushing the PA to its limit and playing well. Big things will happen if they stay together. @alleyway_band raised the DTG Rock N’ Roll bar and then some! A spectacular set enjoyed immensely by the rather large and colourful crowd! @hunky.dory_band played the show of their young lives! We all felt it - pulled into a subtle vacuum of pure stage show brilliance that simply blew us away! A three song set that got them well over the line, and the rest is history! A tight band with superb precision on all fronts. Congrats on winning DTG Dunedin 2026! @cleos_band closed the grand finale in style and musical brilliance! These guys have it all in spades - a wonderful show that highlights the depth of the Dunedin Tertiary band scene. Thank you for the music Cleos, please don’t go changing! Huge thanks to Yas at U Bar and his Hospitality Heroes for serving the cool crowd, Liam D our Host with the Most who had a blinder (nice to have him back in the DTG Saddle of Rock N’ Roll), Alex for great sound and Zion for the snaps. Thanks to our epic sponsors - the road is long and it’s a thin thin line, we can’t do this by ourselves - we salute you! Thanks to all the FANS who screamed your lungs and hearts out for your favourite bands - it’s all about you and you simply can’t beat ROCK N ROLL DEMOCRACY. 📸 Photos from the night are on the website (link in bio) See all you good souls next year! All gave some but some gave all. #digthegig taken in U-Bar by @digthegignz

DIG THE GIG Dunedin 2026 Heat Two shook the campus! First time in 6+ years we’ve run back-to-back events and it felt pretty bloody good! The bands felt good, the crowd felt good and the results - FUCKING AMAZING! Proboscis? kicked off in sublime form - a cool four piece delivering a colourful mix of rock and country - nice work and don’t go changing! Parallel Play are a musical carnival - an outstanding band showcasing the depth of pure female talent Dunedin keeps delivering in the tertiary scene. Shannon, Chelsea & Sophie’s vocals and harmonies cut like a knife while the band played as tight as ever! Debut show - congrats on making it through to the final with the second best DM reading! The Croaks are a feel-good five piece formed in Sunny Nelson - alternative rock with gushing twists - well played gents - keep on keeping on! Sunday Scaries are new on the scene - sleazy but they belt out a bloody great tune! Cleos hit the stage with power and purpose - it was clear from the first note the night was theirs. Folk music bending into heavy rock with swirling melodies leaving the crowd wonderfully exhausted with sonic crescendos! Congrats on winning heat two - see you on finals day. Liquid Lucy closed the night - what a fucking great band! You just gotta see them in the flesh and it will be worth every cent! Thanks to The Wright Family Foundation - we can’t do this without you guys. Thanks to BEERS for the DTG Lager Kegs & Thunderdonk for the shots and Cowboy Hat Give-aways! Lauren Marshall, Seren, and Sam for another wonderful night on and off the stage! 📸 Check out all the photos from Heat 2 and Heat 1 on the digthegig.nz website [in bio] See you at the Grand Finale on October 8th at UBAR.
