Crazy Train 🚂 🇲🇷

On the extreme end of travel activities, riding the iron ore train of Mauritania is not for the faint hearted. While crossing almost 900 km of the Sahara atop a literal freight train filled with iron ore is not for everyone, I've dreamed of completing this challenge for years. With a little help (aka me dragging ha) @talalbinkhalid along the way, I was finally crazy enough to set off on an unprecedented journey into the desert to catch a train. 2.5 days of travel later, as I climbed aboard what would be a 17 hour ride of a lifetime, I discovered this journey was as raw and wild as the people and places of this forgotten land. Kids, don't try this at home 😎

From Seed to Smoke 🌱💨😌🌿

Like many things in Life, a proper Cigar can never be rushed. As an avid Lover of the Leaf, I've had the privilege of trying a wide variety of smokes over many years, refining my palate in discerning quality from the rest. So naturally, when I learned 17 of the world's top 25 Cigar brands hail from Nicaragua, I had to investigate.

Nestled in the quiet Foothills of the small town of Estelí, the real magic takes place. Cigars here are part of daily life, with dozens of world renown factories and farms employing 1000s of people. The harmony of craft, patience, skill, and terroir blend into every harvested plant and every roll admired and enjoyed by millions.

With some careful planning and a little (a lot) of persistence, I managed to obtain exclusive access to several Tabacleras, witnessing first hand the elaborate dance that goes into this process. Please enjoy (responsibly) ✌🏽😎

To know Mexico is to know Mezcal. Here in Oaxaca, Time and Tradition, Palenques and People, Custom and Cultura combine into Spirits as nuanced and diverse as the land itself. The process can never be rushed...but that's what makes the result taste so damn good 🙂‍↕️ Please enjoy (responsibly?) 🇲🇽🌵🌞

Feb Flashback!

Ethiopia 🇪🇹. Mankind's Cradle and my #50th Country. For this special occasion, I had to do something truly special, with a touch of daring. Upon arrival, I heard rumors circulate of an ancient, Orthodox Church nestled in the highland mountains, carved litteral 100s of meters up and into the side of a sheer cliff. I'm not a fan of heights, yet I felt compelled to make the climb.

With some research, I made the journey north and started my ascent. The final stretch requires the most concentration, shimmying across a gap no wider than 3ish feet into the Church entrance. No safety net. No guardrails. No second chances. The margin for error is zero. With sheer determination, (and dare I say faith...?) I made it across and stepped foot into a time capsule of the past. A holy sanctuary from persecution dating back over 1600 years and a living testament to the faithful who make this treacherous journey in the name of God. 🛘⛪🙌🏾
