I can’t believe we actually live where we live and get to live the life we do.

It’s a serious life hack to live in the mountains because your toddler is endlessly entertained.

This has been a dream of a summer and I can’t believe we have to leave temporarily for the winter. I can’t wait to build our home so we can be up here full time. by @dillon_flint_94

I don’t even care that I didn’t notch my tag. I’m so grateful that Dillon and I actually made hunting with Willow happen. It was a lot of me leaving Dillon and Willow to go hunt elk on my own every evening while she played in the dirt and ate snacks with her dad.

This is a hunt I will never forget. I know Willow won’t remember much but I think it’s important to get your kids outside and involve them in something you are passionate about.

She had so much fun and so did we. Here’s your sign to say eff it and take your toddler. You just might not kill anything 😉😂 by @dillon_flint_94

We want to complicate the hell out of life. When I get x, y, z I’ll be happy. When I finally hit said goal I’ll be happy. Fill in the blank.

Living very minimally the last few months in the fifth wheel has really brought home the idea that the material isn’t it. In our society we chase the material.. the house, the goal, the “when I finally...”

Instead it’s marrying your best friend. Having babies. Living the life of your dreams. Watching your child see the world for the first time. Walking down a dirt road with a beautiful sunset. Enjoying time with those you love.

Should you set goals and kick ass on them? Absolutely. But it’s the mundane where we actually find true happiness.

Living in the most beautiful place helps. And we truly live in the most beautiful place. Dillon and I set goals, worked hard, and made our dreams come true. But as life does, ten years from now we’ll probably have a new dream.

Even in chasing those dreams, it’s living in the moment of the mundane where I find happiness. by @dillon_flint_94

For years we talked about moving to Wyoming. But I was scared… change is hard for me, we’d be further from family, every piece of land we loved meant living off-grid.

Then one day I pictured us 10 years from now, still stuck on the “what ifs.” I didn’t want to be that person. So I texted Dillon: let’s do it.

Dillon’s a full-send kind of guy. I’m a sit-and-think-about-it-for-a-year kind of girl 😂 I love that about us.

Now we’re living the life we used to just talk about. Not rainbows and butterflies… there have been trials and surprises. Winter means we have to leave for a bit, but we can’t wait to get back in spring and start building our little house. by @dillon_flint_94

People ask if I worry about raising her without a “normal” childhood.

Some feel bad for her because she’s not in a neighborhood, not around other kids all day, not doing the traditional thing.

Honestly? Sometimes I do worry. That’s just part of being a parent… you second-guess yourself, you wonder if you’re making the right call.

But I don’t feel bad about it. Because I’m not sure “normal” is something to aspire to anymore… not when so many kids are inside, on screens, on concrete instead of in the dirt.

This is her normal instead: fresh air, dirt under her nails, and a mama who’d rather chase her through sagebrush than sit inside.

If you asked me 10 years ago if this is where I’d be… I’d have to laugh at you..

But here we are. Loving every second.

Well. Most seconds. Off-grid in a fifth wheel has its days but our daughter is obsessed, and so are we, mess and all.

Dillon’s building us a house from the ground up on the land we bought (yes, Dillon, I’ll hand him tools and tell him good job 😂).

Until then? Fifth wheel livin and chasing warmer weather come winter.

We bought the land without seeing it.

We’d been looking at land in this area for three years but never had the guts to pull the trigger. Then we had our daughter and something just clicked.

It’s not going to be easy. Living in a fifth wheel, getting kicked off the land in the winter months, building our house completely on our own, figuring out off-grid life… it’s a full blown fuck around and find out situation. 😂

But thinking about the memories we’ll make exploring, hunting, and spending as much time outside together as possible makes every single challenge worth it.

Now it’s time to pack up our house and SERIOUSLY downsize the amount of shiiiiit we have. Seriously though… how do humans accumulate this much stuff? 😂 by @dillon_flint_94

Living the life you want takes courage.

My husband and I always dreamed of raising our family in the mountains. But for a long time, I was too scared to jump. The voices in my head said it wasn’t realistic… that it wasn’t even the responsible thing to do.

What-ifs ran my life for years.

My husband is the courageous risk-taker. My toxic trait? Believing he can move mountains… and he always does. 😏

He’s the reason I finally left my soul-sucking teaching job to start K3 Homeschool Foundations. He’s the reason I get to run my own business and be home with our daughter.

And our daughter? She’s the reason I finally took the leap.

We have a lot of reasons for this move… but at the heart of it, we want to raise our kids in nature. We want clean air and clean water. We want to spend our days adventuring, hunting, traveling, and homeschooling. We want to raise stewards of the land.

To have all of that, we had to become the architects of our own life.

I believe it’s our duty to raise our kids differently if we want a different future for them.

Everything we want takes sacrifice, risk, and a hell of a lot of courage.

So if you’re sitting on the fence, do it. by @dillon_flint_94
