Throwback to Halloween 2024 when I came home from being on the road for work to find my girlfriend dressed up as, you guessed it: me. I think she nailed it. by @dillongarland

Happy Halloween, everyone! To celebrate, enjoy this absolutely normal and uneventful footage of walking dogs through a park!

Recently got to play around with some Backrooms inspired lighting at Dayle’s Grand Market on a TV shoot for Haunted: Heart & Soul. Can’t wait for you all to see this two part episode when it airs on Eastlink Community TV. Stay tuned.

In a very last minute and unexpected twist, I ended up in the Director’s chair (excitedly sharing the role with Kim Moser whose vision, ideas, and love of the paranormal helped shape an amazing story) once again for a ghost show. This time, Haunted: Heart & Soul, which is the sibling to the ghost show I’ve been a part of since 2017: Haunted.

Originally I was only supposed to be Director of Photography for this season, but circumstances worked in my favour to allow me to do the thing I love doing most once again: being a director.

The episode couldn’t have gone better. The team on camera, Kim Moser, Amy Murphy, & Chelsey Lacelle (who you may know as @thirdeyeparanormal) discovered, uncovered, and put to rest (peacefully) a story none of us could have ever anticipated. It was a roller coaster on a scale I wasn’t aware was possible for a ghost hunting show. But the three of them made magic happen.

The behind the scenes team, including the camera department (Mark, Cadman, Alex, & Will), our sound recordist (Graham), and our production coordinator (Olivia) made my job as a director genuinely limitless as their talents made any idea we came up with possible. A director is only as good as the team. The vision only exists with those who can translate it to the screen both visually and audibly. And my god, do we have a fantastic team.

Thank you to our producers Paul Kimball and Ron Foley Macdonald for allowing room for me to direct once again. One location down, two more to go as director before I return fully to my DOP duties.

Can’t wait for you all to see the season when it airs exclusively on @eastlink Community TV in the near future!

Thank you to the Ottawa House for allowing us to tell a story inside of your exceptional space. by @dillongarland

Halloween two years ago when I finally committed to going as Papa Emeritus IV (aka the lead singer of Ghost at the time). It took cosplaying as the satanic singer of a metal band to get over my fear of wearing contact lenses. Worth it.

Get yourself a partner who is willing to dress up like characters from the backstory of a Swedish metal band for Halloween. 🤤.

Throwback from 2024 as Papa Emeritus IV and Sister Imperator. Just don’t think too much into the context here if you’re familiar with the lore…

“You.”

Throwback to a few years ago in Halifax with @paige_devon. by @dillongarland

Taken earlier this month at around 2am during a solo walk through Dundee, Scotland for a post filming McDonald’s run. I don’t know what it is about it, but filming anything ghost related always has me craving a McDouble and a small coke. Guess it helps rebuke the demons. by @dillongarland

As a kid, I’d spend a lot of time in the woods pretending I was in the world of The Legend of Zelda. Imagining a world of ruins, castles, and hidden structures. While my 34 year old self had his mind on the mission of filming Haunted: Heart & Soul, it was impossible to ignore the inner child poking out with eyes wide in amazement at the Ethie Castle grounds in Scotland.

Scotland. Day 9.

Not a bad place to call your office for the day, eh? We wrapped out our investigation of Ethie Castle by spending a good chunk of our time outside. As the director of photography, I was spoiled for choice to where I could point the camera. Every angle was stunning. Thankful for my camera team who worked with me to pick the best spots possible. Excited for you all to see it when Haunted: Heart and Soul airs on Eastlink Community TV in the future. by @dillongarland

Scotland. Day 8. Part 2.

A few more shots I took during our second day of investigating the beautiful Ethie Castle for Haunted: Heart & Soul, season 3. by @dillongarland
