📍 Ramen Story 🌟🌟.5/5

One of the many Japanese restaurants in Fortune Centre, this one offers ramen acorss different seasons. Pretty interesting concept but the ramen were really damn mid😭😭 and they are not the cheapest either. Idk why but the ramens we had tasted Thai, Chinese and Western, just not Japanese HAHAH. I guess at least there is free beansprouts...

Yuzu Ramen ($15.90) 5/10
Unfortunately the broth tasted quite diluted, lacking the richness I expected in a ramen broth. The yuzu taste was also quite overpowering, a little too sour, I lowkey felt like I was eating Thai food. Noodles were springy but that's p much what's good about this bowl of ramen LOL

Signature Chicken Paitan Ramen ($17.90) 6/10
And this one tasted Western LMAO. It was creamier than the rest but still not as rich in flavour as ai expected from a toripaitan broth. The truffle flavour honestly overpowered everything and made it taste like a cream of mushroom soup.

Shoyu Ramen ($15.90) 6/10
This one had a slightly thicker consistency than the yuzu ramen, and slightly more umami too. But still quite mid. This tasted lowkey Chinese instead of Japanese too LOL

Aburi Cheese Tamagoyaki ($6.80) 7/10
This might be the best thing we had LOL. The tamagoyaki was soft and eggy, with the right amount of sweetness. Topped with teriyaki sauce and japanese mayo, really yummy. taken in Ramen Story by Jinggho Shokudo by @dilysciously

📍 Katsu By Kyu 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Wanted to eat Tonshou but ended up here instead because Tonshou was closed 😭😭 BUT LUCKILY THIS WAS GOOD TOO! The ambience was super cute too, like you are eating in a Hanok. Really love the perilla oil and furikake they had on the side I got an extra portion of TO SPAM THE FURIKAKE. The salad sauce was NICE TOOO it was citrusy and they added onion in there I think which gave it an sweetness. Miso soup was good tooo. Only thing is that the prices here are on the steeper enddd and portions are smaller than Tonshou.

Classic Jeju Loin ($36)
This was really good!!! Still thinking about this today 😭 The pork was really thick and tender, and the batter was still crispy throughout. The perilla oil paired really well with this, giving it an aromatic nutty flavour!! The soybean sauce was really good too.

Jeju Tenderloin ($35)
This cut was not as tender as the Loin but still good nonetheless. There was a hint of truffle flavour to this, honestly not sure why truffle was added as it would be overpowered by the other sauces I dip the pork in. But the truffle flavour was good if you ate it on its own!

🇲🇾 Bluer House 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Super yummy sourdough sandwiches in JB! The sourdough were toasted to the right amount of crispy, while retaining its chewiness. The drinks were pretty mid though. Only gripe is that the cafe was quite small so we had to queue for almost 45minutes before we could enter...

Bluer (25RM for whole)
This sweet savoury combination was really gooddd. Imagine a grilled cheese toast but with blueberry jam and honey, sounds kinda weird but it works!

Balsamic Grilled Chicken (25RM for whole)
Chicken breast was tender and not dry at all! Slightly tangy from the balsamic glaze and creamy from the Mediterranean sauce, really yummyyy 😋😋

Cold Brew Pear Tea (16RM)
This was some pear tea with yakult and chestnut pearls. Honestly the pear tea was overpowering by the yakult I could barely taste the pear tea.

From a homebased business selling pizzas from a HDB window in Hougang, to opening a restaurant in Woodleigh, this spot serves up Neopolitan style pizzas 🤤 Definitely check this spot out if you are looking for decent quality pizzas and YUMMY TIRAMISU at pretty affordable prices as they do not charge GST and service charge!!

Mix Mushroom Pizza ($21) 6.5/10
The crust was light and airy while the middle was super thin and chewy. Lots of mushrooms but I wished the truffle taste was stronger. Flavourwise felt quite flat.

Pesto Pizza ($30.5) 7/10
SUPER HUGE BURRATA that was fresh milky and creamy. For this price I think its super worth. Generous amount of pesto sauce spread on the pizza which had strong basil flavours although it was slightly bitter. The addition of pistachio gave it an extra nutty crunch. Idk why the pizza base here was thicker, the middle and crust was pretty much the same thickness and slightly burnt though.

Truffle Fries ($8) 8/10
Fries were thin and crispy and truffle taste was prominent. The thing that stood out was the CURRY AIOLI THOUGH. It lowkey reminded me of old chang kee curry puff, with a slight tang. Super addictive!!!

Tiramisu ($8.90) 9/10
THIS WAS GOOD i think the best thing I had here. Honestly wasn't expecting much but I was impressed!! The ladyfingers were really soaked with espresso and I could taste the alcohol added. And with layers of airy creamy mascarpone cream SUPER GOOD. The crispy chocolate biscuits ontop had a slight saltiness and added a nice crunch too!!!

📍 Filled In The Blank 🌟🌟🌟/5

Kept seeing this cafe around my feed with a revamped menu in collaboration with Singapore Masterchef winner so I was curious to try it out. The new dishes were pretty interesting with a local twist and quite good. But service was SOOO SLOWW and the table beside us apparently waited 1hr+ for their food LOL. -0.5 stars for the poor service HAHAHA and food is not amazing enough for me to wait again though.

Chilli Crab Shaksuka ($13) 7/10
The chilli crab flavours really came through and there was a pretty decent amount of crab meat. The tomato base sauce was thick enough and had the right amount of tang.

Laksa Risotto ($24) 7.5/10
Laksa flavour was really strong in this dish. Really coconutty and creamy laksa sauce coated every single grain of plump rice. The fried taupok bits gave each bite an extra crunch. Prawns were fresh. But for $24 the portion was quite small...

XO Carrot Cake ($12) 7/10
Soft carrot cake with a crispy exterior, topped with prawns and spicy xo sauce 🤤 Wished that the carrot cake had some bits of actual white radish for more dimensions though, because it tasted quite floury.

📍 Nice Noodle 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

A new viral spot near Telok Ayer serving noodles with a Japanese twist 🍜🤤 Headed down around 6.15pm on a weekday and we managed to get seats immediately, but queues formed soon after! The noodles are all pretty reasonably priced albeit a little small portion. I would totally head back to try the other flavours!

Cool Broth with Butter Poached Chicken Breast ($12)
Super refreshing icy umami packed broth with a touch of sweetness. I couldn't stop drinking it! It paired so well with the mee kia style noodles, which was cooked to a nice al dente bite. Chicken breast was tender. The mushroom jam gave the broth extra earthiness. Aesthetically wise putting the tobiko in the broth was good but I think it would be better if it was separate so that I could actually eat it more easily LOL. Most of them just went to the bottom of the bowl and was kinda hard to eat with the noodles.

Finally tried this and unfortunately it was quite mid...Portions were bigger than expected but the taste was quite a let down :(

Fish Tacos 3pcs ($19) 6.5/10
Super big taco and really flavourful with lots of chipotle mayo but it could get a little overpowering. Fish was okay quite small so I couldn't really taste it tbh.

Birria Beef Quesadilla ($15) 6/10
Loadsss of beef and mozzarella cheese. The quesadilla itself was pretty good, tortilla was crispy. But afterwards it got kinda soggy. Beef was a lil gamey too. There was some beef sauce or smth at the side but it was so watery and had barely any flavour idk what it was for.

Cajun Chicken Quesadilla ($13) 7/10
Lots of chicken and mozzarella cheese too. For this the tortilla retained its crisp better!

Mini Chicken Burrito ($9.9) 4/10
Uhh this was literally just chicken rice in a tortilla wrap. Barely any pieces of chicken. A whole bowl of carbs LOL wrap + rice + nacho chips.

📍 Hua Yi Dumpling 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Was looking for something affordable to eat around Tanjong Pagar and randomly stumbled upon this chinese dumpling shop! It was empty on a Friday night so I did not really had much expectations but IT WAS PRETTY GOOD!! Would totally come back here if I am craving for some dumplings and chinese noods 🤤 No GST here too which is another plus point!

Sakura Shrimp Scallion Noodles with Crispy Chicken ($8.5) 7/10
Noodles were cooked to a nice bite and tossed in a savoury sauce. Sakura shrimps gave the noodles an extra nice sweet umami flavour. Scallion flavour could be more prominent thoughh.

Truffle Mushroom and Chicken Dumplings ($8.20) 7/10
You could choose how you wanted the dumplings prepared and we chose pan fried. The dumplings were HUGEE AND packed with ingredients. Although it was pan fried it was not oily and the bottom had that CRISPP. Truffle flavour was prominent too!

📍 Bouillon Gavroche 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

This place really brought me back to the Bouillons in Paris 🥺 From the food to the ambience and even the menu layout. The dishes tasted p authentic and might be even better than the ones I had in Paris! Only gripe is that baguette is not free wtheck!!

Beef Bourguignon ($26) 9/10
SUPER SOFTT AND TENDER beef braised in an aromatic red wine sauce. Fats were melt in your mouthh. The sauce was on the slightly thicker end which coated each piece of meat so welll.

Chicken Leg Mustard Sauce ($20) 6.5/10
Chicken was kinda dry although it was chicken leg 🤔 Personally not a fan of mustard so I didn't really like the sauce but my friend liked it. The mustard flavour was quite subtle.

Duck Parmentier ($22) 8/10
This was unexpectedly gooddd. Mashed potatoes with pulled duck confit and breadcrumbs came together really well!

Baguette and Butter ($4) 6/10
The exterior crust was kinda tough but the baguettes I had in Paris were like this too so i guess it's supposed to be like this. It was warm and the butter made it better!

📍 Surrey Hills Grocer (Raffles City)

GET 2 FOR 2, 3 FOR 3 OR 4 FOR 4?? SO WORTHHH. Portions were pretty big too. Plus if you vote for them in some sg restaurant competition, you get a free lobster salad taco which is damn yumz too. Different outlet have different menus on discount so do check their IG before heading down!

Laksa Prawn Linguine ($28)
Linguine cooked to al dente, tossed in a yummy Laksa gravy that was coconutty and fragrant. The taupok was deep fried and super crispy!

Chicken Parmigania ($32)
Flavourwise, the creaminess of the cheese helped to balance out the tanginess of the tomato sauce - pretty good! But the chicken was kinda dry I mean it is chicken breast so wells.

Lobster Salad Taco
LOL this was unexpectedly my fav. The lobster was actually quite a substantial amount and there was a nice bouncy bite to it, with a subtle wasabi flavour. The 'taco' was a tempura seaweed thing which was so crispy 😋

Chilled Drunken Yellow Roe Crab
Super fresh crab! It had SO MUCHH yellow roe too which was not fishy at all and paired really well with the shaoxing(?) Soy sauce

Creamy Pumpkin Boston Lobster
My favourite dish of the night!! The pumpkin sauce was soo creamy and indulgenttt. Pumpkin flavour was really prominent too. This sauce and the plump fresh lobster, so good!!

Braised Irish Duck
Braised duck with dougan. Was okay could be more tender!

Wok Fried Preserved Radish 'Hor Fun'
This was really good!! One of the best Teochew kway teow I've had FRR. The wok hei was prominent and there was so much preserved radish that gave the dish an extra crunch and sweetness. Lots of egg too!

Crispy Bing Chuan Brinjal
Not a fan of brinjal but I would eat this again! Really crispy and airy batter with a savoury sweet sauce that paired so well with the soft brinjal.

Mashed Taro Orh Nee
Really creamy and smooth taro paste 🤤🤤 Ginko nuts were cooked till a slight chew and not bitter at all! this was my fav out of the 3 desserts!

Teochew Style Sweet Soup
Slightly sweet and a really good way to end the meal 🤤 Tasted a bit like Cheng Tng with lots of white fungus and dried longans

Peach Gum with Hokkaido Milk
Super generous amount of peach gumm but this was kinda too sweet for me...

Back here again because it is one of the few cafes that I would say serves good food. Came back and tried other stuff and they did not disappoint!

1. Cereal Prawn Crossiant 9/10
Might be biased because I love Cereal Prawns but THIS WAS GOOOOD. The crossiant was super crispy. The prawns were so PLUMP AND FRESH. The cereal and yuzu mayo sauce WERE SO FLAVOURFUL AND YUMMY too. Nothing to complain about this fr just maybe if I'm nitpicking the cereal could more buttery.

Beef Lasagne 8/10

super yumz tooo. Substantial amount of minced beef and tomato sauce was savoury and had the right amount of tang. Pasta sheets could maybe be a lil more al dente!
