With the unsettling surge of AI content, I have to lead by example, and not have an AI-generated image as my profile. So, Iโ€™m updating my meet-the-bookstagrammer post, with 100% human generated content! ๐Ÿฉท My name is Dima. I am a 40-year-old Palestinian. โค๏ธย I am doing my PhD in Computer Science, specifically in Natural Language Processing. I do work with AI a lot, which includes generative AI. However, I do not condone the use of AI in creative veins. Creating art is an inherent human trait, and all AI can do is copy and steal it! ๐Ÿงกย I started this account at the end of 2022 to document some activities I do, but it organically turned into a book account. ๐Ÿ’›ย Iโ€™ve always been a reader - I was encouraged from a young age by my parents, grandparents, aunts, and cousins to read. ๐Ÿ’šย My favorite genres are fantasy and contemporary romance, but I also enjoy classics, dystopian, sci-fi, and a bit of thrillers. Also - Iโ€™m a mood reader, which is not always convenient. ๐Ÿฉต I am a collector of stuff - my favourite collection is editions of Alice in Wonderland in different languages from places I travel to! ๐Ÿ’™ย I love doing jigsaw puzzles, although now, with my studies and living space, it has been difficult to indulge. ๐Ÿ’œย I mostly read ebooks and audiobooks, but I love physical books, too. ๐Ÿ–คย Even though I read almost exclusively in English (it is the language I use the most in school, at work, and in my day-to-day), I also speak Arabic, French, and Greek. ๐Ÿฉถ I love playing video games. I am known to dabble with the Sims 4, and I have a Switch with a lot of Mario games and the most time spent on Stardew Valley. ๐Ÿคย I would like this to be a safe space. Everyone is welcome here, as long as youโ€™re kind. I will not tolerate any kind of hate or bigotry. If I missed anything, let me know! ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿงก Mauve for the romance, charcoal for the darkness, and rust for a little heat. Basically, the perfect color palette for a bookish mood. For this monthโ€™s color collab, weโ€™re embracing all the moody, autumnal vibes with shades of mauve, charcoal, and rust. Three colors, endless stories, and absolutely no reason to pick just one becauseโ€ฆ self-control? Never heard of her. ๐Ÿ“šโœจ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿงกโœจ๐Ÿ“š This was the most challenging colour collab since the beginning of the year! First, it turns out I donโ€™t really know what shade of purple mauve is! Second, Iโ€™m still struggling with achieving a sketched look for these spines while maintaining the readability (or relative readability) of the text on them. And lastly, even though Iโ€™ve been tracing arabesque patterns on an infinite number of surfaces with my fingers all my life, I still cannot trace the design in Procreate!
