Every now and then I feel like doing something completely different. This time I changed the shape! These are called Tondos in the art world. Round paintings. It’s amazing how different you have to think painting them. I did a subject I painted lots of times before. I oils!! And a different subject I’ve been wanted to tackle for a while. So you’re looking at Brownsea island and a couple of Artichokes. I even made the frame on the Artichokes myself. They are painted in Acrylic. If anyone’s interested please DM me or go to my website www.johndimech.com or email me at John.dimechart@hotmail.com #paintings #oilpainting #brownseaisland #artichoke #acrylic by @dimech.john
Malta, Marsamxett harbour overlooking Valletta. I hadn’t painted anything of Malta for a long time. And for some reason I was inspired to paint the iconic view of this harbour from where you can see the magnificent bastions of Valletta where my wife and I lived for a few years as I was presenting my Art programs on TV. These are only small compared to the big canvases I painted En Plein Air for the program Malta on canvas. Many memories came flooding in if the good times we shared over there with the many friends we made in the island. #paintings #malta #acrylics #island #valletta by @dimech.john
Another two acrylic abstracts that were actually done last year. But I’m developing other ideas from these. The one with the squares is inspired by two of Damien Hurst’s spot and spinning paintings. The other one is a test on your eyes. Depending on what colour you fix your eyes on you it will dominate. Perhaps it only works when in front of the original. But it works 😃😃 Also as promised, if you go to my website www.johndimech.com yiu will see my next chapter of Why we can’t live without art. ‘Custodians of art’ #johndimech #acrylicpainting #abstracts #website #damienhirst by @dimech.john
I have recently been working on something completely different 😄😄 Different in shape and style! They are a sort of Mandalas although I’m still experimenting to see how far I can go with them. And hoping to find a gallery that deals more with abstract work. I’m also going to be more active on my website, not only with putting more of my work there, but also writing on my blog. So If you go to www. johndimech.com you will see my first part of the chapter I’m writing ‘Why we can’t live without art’ . I will be adding a chapter every week on a Saturday. Feedback will be appreciated here or on my website Enjoy #johndimechart # acrylic paintings #abstract #blog #mandalas by @dimech.john
Two of my latest big paintings ready to be framed and go to Quarr gallery in Swanage Dorset. Still thinking about maybe making a few limited editions prints of them… Both made with acrylic on canvas and inspired by the Dorset seascape The sunset is Brownsea Island in Poole and the other is Old Harry Rocks, a part of the Purbeck area. I also have a few smaller ones I’m working on as they have been selling well through other galleries. But I’ve also been working on a few different paintings which I’ll put here at a later date. If you want to see other paintings please either contact me through my website www.johndimech.com or email at John.dimechart @hotmail.com #johndimech #acrylics #dorset #paintings #oldharryrocks #brownseaisland #sunset #purbeck #prints #poole #pooleharbour # by @dimech.john

These three paintings have now been sold from the Quarr Gallery in Swanage, Dorset. They now have a few more of my works.... On here at a later date. although I have been working on different styles of work, these images of Dorset and the Jurassic coast have been very popular through years. I love painting the sea in all its different moods and the colours here on the Purbeck coast is so vibrant and full of almost Meditarreanean colour. They are Stuland beach, Bournemouth beach towards the IOW Needles and Swanage Bay. For any info on other paintings you can always contact me via email... johndimechart@hotmail.com or visit my website at www.johndimech.com #dorset #purbeck #coast #jurassic #jurassiccoast #acrylicpainting #canvas #swanage # by @dimech.john
I thought I’d bring out my oils last week and try a couple of landscapes in the medium. So here they are. I have done similar ones in watercolours and acrylics. But painting in oils is a completely different experience. Loved the smell of terps too as it took me back to my younger days when I used oils all the time. There really is something magical about oil paints 😃Hope to be showing these two in a gallery soon. They are quite small ( 16x 8 inches) and I want to find the perfect frame for them. If anyone is interested please DM me here. #johndimech #oils #oil painting #landscape #turpentine #acrylics #frames #gallery #www.johndimech.com by @dimech.john
SOLD. This abstract painting inspired by the New Forest have gone to a new home. It is one of the painting I have as a part of a residency exhibition in a hotel in the New Forest. I really loved paint this in acrylics in the style of Gerhard Richter the great German artist. I took the colours from a few other paintings U have done and using just pieces of card, I went through the canvas several times until I achieved the look I wanted. The Forest is always inspirational in all seasons but Autumn is my favourite time for the colours found within it. The Red the Gold and yellow hues as the trees start to change are truly awesome. #johndimech #acrylic #New Forest #painting #autumn #colours #sold #gold #yellow #red #gerhardrichter #abstract by @dimech.john
