THE SPACE FOR OUR EXPLORATION // 190 PRYOR STREET

Every room changes the music.

A loft in downtown Atlanta, dressed like a forest grown indoors. Vines down the columns, projections moving across the brick, low light coming through the leaves. On June 27, we are the first.

We kept it quiet on purpose. We wanted the room to be part of the reveal. For everyone who trusted us early and grabbed a ticket before we named it, this is what you were trusting us with.

At the center sits a Klipschorn system on loan from the Frisky Whisker, sound that surrounds you rather than pushes at you. Put that under the lights, the visuals and the trees, and the room becomes part of the set instead of the place it happens in.

Sound, light and vibration. Explore with us 👁️

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT // SALAR ANSARI

Salar Ansari learned the music in Tehran, in a scene that mostly happened behind closed doors. Out of that underground he helped build Analog Room, a roving series and residency that gave a generation of Iranian and regional artists a place to play machines for a room, at a time when that was never a given.

He studied audio engineering, first in Dubai, then carried it to Detroit, where he settled around 2015 after the city’s music pulled him in. There he became a trusted engineer and collaborator, running the room at Grammy winner Luis Resto’s Feeder Loft studio and taking home a 2021 Detroit Music Award for his own production.

What he does on stage is live, not a DJ set. He builds it in real time from hardware, folding techno, house and the Persian rhythms he grew up on into something that answers the room as it goes. No two sets are the same, and none of them run on rails.

On June 27 he brings that machine setup to Atlanta, into a downtown loft opening to our scene for the first time. Come hear what it sounds like when someone plays the room instead of a playlist.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT // HALO VARGA

Before he was one of fabric London’s earliest residents, Brian Varga was a kid in Chicago falling for the sound of vintage drum machines run through warm, hand-played rhythm. That instinct, machine and human pulling in the same direction, has shaped everything he has made since.

As half of H-Foundation with Hipp-E, he spent years releasing on the labels that built the modern underground: Soma, Yoshitoshi, NRK, later Desolat and Visionquest. As a selector he carried that sound from fabric in London to floors in Tel Aviv, Singapore and Brazil, always vinyl first, always in no hurry.

Today he runs Muted Noise out of San Diego, a label whose motto tells you exactly how he hears a room: mature music for the deeply minded. He co-owns Artifact Record Shop in the same city, still digging, still treating the record as the point and not the prop.

On June 27 he brings that record bag to Atlanta, into a downtown loft no one in our scene has opened before. Nearly thirty years in, this is someone who knows precisely when to let a record breathe. Come learn why the people who book him rarely stop talking about him.
