Did someone say FREE DESSERT??? 🍵
@takenaka_yvr is where you get quantity AND QUALITY. Their attention to detail with their teishoku set amazed me. We got the mini hokkai-don and everything down to the rice was PERFECT. Tamago isn’t something I usually enjoy but theirs was silky smooth, and I loved the addition of the ikura on top.
We also got the $25 ramen combo which comes with a salads and onigiri. There are three different ramens you can choose from: uni, yuzu clam or paitain. The uni ramen had the most rich and flavourful broth and was so different from anything I’ve tried before.
AND get a FREE matcha panna cotta when you mention them in your story!!

For God so loved the world, He gave us laksa.
I’m pretty sure @john316mydelights is everyone’s favourite Malaysian spot, and they’ve got SO many locations bringing us good food. While their Richmond location is under renovation, make sure to visit them in Vancouver and Burnaby!

I have to confess… as a Chinese person, I don’t really like moon cakes. BUT I love the togetherness and dessert eating of Moon Festival, so this year we’re replacing mooncakes with SALT BREAD!!! 🥮 🍞
@the.seoulful is bringing traditional Moon Festival desserts from different cultures into new and tasty forms.
I’m actually OBSESSED with their cream-filled salted bread (and I usually prefer mine plain). The cream is light and fluffy without making the bread soggy, while the salt bread has the perfect crisp shell with a pillowy-soft centre. And that hit of salty butter with the sweet cream?!

The flavours:
Fresh Fig SBB
Shine Muscat Yogurt SBB 🍇
Earl Grey SBB
Garlic Cream Cheese SBB 🧄
Injeolmi Red Bean Mochi SBB
Financiers - Yakgwa, Pecan Cream Cheese, Salted Caramel

The comforting sounds of a cha chaan teng 🇭🇰
Someone asked me where the best cha chaan teng that is not in a food court is… I didn’t have an answer to that. Then someone else told me that Amigo Restaurant was their favourite.
The cutlet in the baked rice was really nice, it maintained its crispiness even buried under the sauce - although I wish there was bit more sauce for the rice. The steak was surprisingly tasty for an Asian restaurant. taken in La Amigo Restaurant 雅谷餐廳 by @dinevancity

BACK FOR ANOTHER LUNCH ADVENTURE UNDER THE BENTALL BUILDINGS 🇹🇭
There aren’t really any Thai restaurants around the financial district so having a @zabbite.thaiexpress food court stall is super exciting!
Usually when I’m buying lunch, I try to keep it under $20. The pad see ew was $23, and when I checked the restaurant website, the price of the same was $22. I guess downtown leases are expensive. 🤣🤣 I will say, it does taste just as good as at the restaurant though.
I overheard that the cup sizes for the drinks are not the correct size, so the price was $4 instead of $6. So don’t worry if you thought it looked a little small!!

FOR LUNCH THIS WEEK
Newly opened underneath Bentall 1 is Tori and Little Seoul by Chef Jacob (owner of The Frying Pan). I think they’re a really great addition to the down town scene, they’re already really busy at lunch! Between the two, I liked Little Seoul more. Choose a base of rice/japchae/spring mix, your classic Korean proteins and two sides WHICH THEY HAVE REALLY AMAZING OPTIONS FOR - Gyoza, teokbokki, pasta salad, Brussel sprouts to name a few. My plate was PACKEDD had to take the left overs home.
